Timeform View

CAMPEONA eventually made the most of an ideal opportunity to get off the mark at Bath last week and with more to come as her stamina is further drawn out, Sir Mark Prescott can take this race for a third year in succession with an improving 3-y-o. Another small-field scenario tempers enthusiasm with Golden Flame, but he's put forward as the main threat, nevertheless.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Campeona traded at a high of 5.00 and Betfair SP of 1.25 when winning last time, a race in which it raced towards the rear and travelled lazily early on.

Timeform Comments

Golden Flame (IRE)
Ended a losing run stretching back almost 5 yrs in 7-runner event at Ffos Las (2m) last month, travelling strongly. Backed that up when second of 4 at Doncaster (14.5f, firm) a fortnight ago, ideally needing a stronger gallop. Lack of pace and another small field tempers enthusiasm.
Diamond Bay
Given a chance by the handicapper and ran better than for a while dropped into a 0-70 when fifth of 7 at Nottingham (1¾m) recently, his lack of finishing speed at the trip in evidence. Had looked worth another try at 2m but disappointed at Lingfield 5 weeks ago. Eased another 2 lb.
The Craftymaster
Bounced back to form returned to all-weather when running out a wide-margin winner at Wolverhampton last month and backed that up under a penalty when second at that venue (1¾m) just over 2 weeks ago. Has a lower turf mark but not as good on this surface. Engaged 6.40 Lingfield Wednesday.
Campeona
Took a huge step forward upped markedly in trip for handicap/turf debut when second at Bath (11.6f) on return and landed the odds in 5-runner similar event there (1¾m, firm) last week. First-time cheekpieces go on and there's better still to come as her stamina is further drawn out.
