Timeform View

HANSTEEN is very difficult to oppose on the back of his Pontefract win. Sir Mark Prescott's handicap newcomer Si White may pose the biggest threat in a thin race.

Timeform Comments

Saxophonic
625,000 gns Dubawi yearling but nowhere near living up to that pedigree so far. Improved when third on handicap debut at Newcastle (final outing K. R. Burke) but well below that level both outings since.
Hansteen
Improved upped to this trip when a close second on handicap debut at Ripon before capitalising on a good opportunity to get off the mark in a 7-runner minor event (5/6) at Pontefract (1½m, good) 6 days ago. Makes plenty of appeal.
Dijon Gone
Down the field in her 3 qualifying runs over 1m before failing to find the required progress upped to 1¼m in handicaps on her last 2 outings. Makes tapeta debut in first-time cheekpieces.
Galistra (FR)
Well-bred filly but produced barely modest form in a brace of all-weather starts for Ralph Beckett. Sold cheaply to this yard and no more promise in 2 more starts, folding tamely as if amiss on handicap debut last time.
Si White (GER)
Little show across his 3 qualifying runs, failing to capitalise on the run of the race when sixth of 7 in novice at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 40/1) when last seen in January. Nevertheless, yard's handicap newcomers are always respected as he now steps up in trip.
Lordsbridge Bay
Some promise in maidens but yet to improve for switch to handicaps, a change of headgear not having much effect when ninth of 10 at Windsor (1m, good to firm, 66/1) 31 days ago. Significantly up in trip.
Summer Oasis
Poor maiden who hasn't fared any better for the switch to handicaps (at 7f/1m) this year. Makes tapeta debut in first-time cheekpieces.
Smoker Bellamy (IRE)
Best effort when runner-up in a 9.5f Wolverhampton handicap in April. Not entirely disgraced without fully convincing with his stamina for the longer trip when fourth of 13 in minor event at Lingfield (1½m, all-weather) 10 days ago. Regular cheekpieces back on.
Arc At Her
Out of a 2m winner and has very much shaped as if in need of time and distance in 5 starts to date.
Alcanzor (IRE)
Well held in maiden/novice events and only fifth of 6 on handicap debut at Nottingham (1¼m, good) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time.
N'ion (FR)
Achieved very little to date in 3 qualifying runs this spring and fared no better for application of cheekpieces/switch to handicaps at Windsor last time.
