AMAZING JOURNEY is 5 lb well-in under a penalty and can provide Jamie Osborne with another big handicap win on the straight course at Ascot. Fellow 3-y-o Extremely Zain has a triple-figure rating on the back of his easy York win but there could be plenty more to come from him after only 3 starts and he's feared most ahead of Buckingham Palace winner Mezcala and recent Bunbury Cup runner-up Back In Black.

Timeform Comments

Golden Mind (IRE)
Form is a bit up and down but he's a smart handicapper on his day. Won 3 times last year and also ran well when fourth of 28 in the Victoria Cup over C&D in May. Well beaten in the Buckingham Palace at the Royal meeting, though.
Completely Random
Landed back-to-back handicap/listed contests on all-weather in January and proved he's also smart on turf when close second in Wokingham over 6f here at the Royal meeting (good to firm) in first-time cheekpieces (retained). Player if as effective back at 7f.
Great Acclaim
Has an excellent record in the last 12 months or so, including placing in the ultra-competitive Victoria Cup and Buckingham Palace over C&D this summer. Only mid-field in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket since but his course record affords him respect.
Two Tribes
Completed a notable big handicap double in a week when bagging this race and the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood last summer. Also successful in 6f Meydan handicap in January but hasn't scaled the same heights since, including behind Aalto and Back in Black in Bunbury Cup.
Arctic Dawn
Produced a career-best effort when winning 11-runner handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) in June. His tack position provides an excuse for his subsequent effort in the Buckingham Palace here but he'll need a really smart performance to defy his triple-figure mark.
Mezcala
Progressive sort who posted a smart handicap performance when leading late on in the Buckingham Palace over C&D (good to firm) at the Royal meeting. Value for extra given he overcame both a positional bias and trouble in running, so a 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid.
Stellar Sunrise
Quickened smartly when a much-improved winner at Newbury on return. Has failed to reproduce that form in 2 listed races since but the fact he's 2-2 in handicaps means it would be no shock were he to resume his progression now.
Back In Black (IRE)
Without a since early 2025 but has posted several good efforts in defeat, including ½-length second of 13 to Aalto in Bunbury Cup at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Same mark today and should go well again.
Extremely Zain (FR)
Has looked highly promising when winning all 3 starts, comfortably seeing off 18 rivals on 7f York handicap debut (good to firm) 6 weeks ago. 8 lb higher now but further progress looks assured from a colt who holds a Group 2 entry.
Akkadian Thunder
Quirky type who doesn't have a great strike-rate in recent times but he has been shaping up quite well, meeting trouble and finishing with running left when fifth of 9 at Doncaster (7f, firm) last Saturday.
Saytarr
Made it 4 wins (all all-weather) in 6 starts for James Horton when seeing off 13 rivals at Kempton (1m) last month but the 2 defeats came on turf and does need to prove he's fully effective on this surface.
Ata Rangi (IRE)
Made a winning reappearance at Haydock (7f, good) in May. Respectable fourth of 15 in handicap at Newbury (7f, good to soft) since, faring best of those ridden prominently. Not obviously well enough treated to win a race like this, though.
Aalto (FR)
Second Bunbury Cup success (also close second in 2025) when proving ½ length too strong for Back in Black a fortnight ago. Effectively only 1 lb higher but ninth is the best he's managed in 2 previous attempts in this race.
Sword
Stepped up on stable debut/reappearance when ¾-length third of 20 to Our Havana at York in June. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Temperamental but he was third in this race off the same mark last year.
Philanthropist
Narrowly got the better of a next-time-out winner in first-time cheekpieces at Yarmouth (7f) in April. Respectable in-frame efforts twice since but needs to find a bit more off this mark.
Leadman
Quirky sort who capitalised on a much-reduced mark when winning 7f handicap at Doncaster (good to firm) last month. Shaped as if still in good form in race not run to suit his hold-up style at Newmarket since. Needs things to drop right but he is capable when they do.
Amazing Journey (IRE)
Regular slow starter but has improved this year since being gelded, impressing with a sharp turn of foot to win comfortably over 6f here (firm) 15 days ago. Will be as effective back at 7f. Well treated under a 3 lb penalty and leading claims for yard no stranger to big handicap success here.
