SUNRAY SHADOW probably hit the front sooner than ideal yet still enhanced his form when adding to his tally in a small-field C&D handicap 11 days ago. A 4 lb rise looks workable for Dan Skelton's improving 7-y-o and he has sound claims. Grand Clermont has done very well upon joining David Pipe and rates next best, ahead of Summer Cup scorer Imperial Alex and improving bottom weight The Flying Poet.

Landed 2024 Summer Plate at Market Rasen and ended last season with victory over same C&D in October. Produced an encouraging comeback run over hurdles at Worcester (2½m, good) in June and whilst he'll strip fitter, it could be significant Sean Bowen has plumped for The Flying Poet.
Sony Bill (FR)
Useful over hurdles for Willie Mullins. Acquired by present connections for 64,000 gns and he fared better than on stable debut when third behind Sunray Shadow in a C&D novice handicap chase 11 days ago. That not the easiest to assess though, and trip remains a doubt.
Grand Clermont (FR)
Not long with this yard and having scored over C&D in May was caught further back than ideal when fourth in last month's Summer Cup. Quickly made amends in 7-runner handicap chase at Perth (3m) 2 weeks ago. This tougher but very much respected up 6 lb.
Sunray Shadow
Big improver this season, completing a hurdles/chase hat-trick prior to finishing third here at the start of the month. Best effort yet despite hitting the front sooner than ideal when landing 4-runner C&D handicap 11 days ago and probably has an even bigger effort in the locker.
Bagheera Ginge
At his best when able to dominate and he's been well placed to win 3 of his last 5 starts, including when forging clear of 3 rivals at Stratford (23f) 4 weeks ago. 5 lb higher now and unlikely to have things all his own way in this much more competitive scenario.
Hold Your Fort (IRE)
Gained a third chasing win of last season at Ascot (3m) in March. Largely in good nick over fences since, albeit his mark looked a stumbling block when ninth in last month's Summer Cup over C&D. Not disgraced over hurdles latest and quick switch back to chasing an obvious plus.
Imperial Alex (IRE)
Likeable sort who arrives firmly at the top of his game, resuming winning ways at Stratford and he had both Grand Clermont (unlucky) and Hold Your Fort behind when gamely taking last month's Summer Cup over C&D. Can go well again from 4 lb higher mark.
Stans The Man (IRE)
Returned from 3-month break with success at Wincanton (25f) in March and performed well to finish placed in pair of marathon contests next 2 starts. Unsuited by drop in trip when seventh in last week's Summer Plate at Market Rasen and return to 3m in his favour.
The Flying Poet (IRE)
Hurdles winner who is steadily going the right way over fences this season, making it 2 wins from 3 starts following a breathing operation (equipped with blinkers) at Perth (3m) 24 days ago. This represents a marked step up in class but respected given low-mileage profile.
