A typically-competitive renewal of this valuable handicap in which preference is for JAGGED EDGE, who took his form up a level on return/yard debut when bolting up at Naas in May and shaped much better than the bare result in the Royal Hunt Cup last month. Ado McGuinness' runners always warrant considerable respect here and his Pierre Royal may emerge as the main threat, while Hardy Warrior, Loughrea and Kai Lung all have plenty to recommend them.

Back to somewhere near his best when third of 11 to The Lion In Winter in listed race at Leopardstown (1m, soft) in April but not in the same form back in his usual headgear/returned to less testing conditions at Navan (9f, good) early last month. Others more appealing back in a handicap.
Jagged Edge (IRE)
Landed the Irish Cambridgeshire last summer and better than ever when scoring in impressive style on yard debut in Naas (1m) in May. Shaped much better than the bare result in Royal Hunt Cup last month (possibly unsuited by ground) so high on the shortlist returned to softer conditions.
Ribee (IRE)
Winner of the Irish Lincolnshire on reappearance in March and found just one too good in another valuable handicap the following month. Ran creditably when seventh of 11 to The Lion In Winter in listed race at Leopardstown 11 days later and off since. Has won here but probably needs more rain.
Dunum (IRE)
Enhanced a fine record here when winning this race 12 months ago. Ended last season with a below-par eleventh of 16 at Leopardstown but having run well fresh before, there's every chance he will be in the mix returning from 10 months off.
Gleneagle Bay (IRE)
Attracted support and bounced back to form to score for the first time since his debut in 15-runner event at Cork (7f, good) just over 6 weeks ago, quickening to lead entering final 1f. 7 lb rise demands more but did run well on his only previous visit here last year.
Hardy Warrior (IRE)
Made a winning reappearance at Naas (1m) in March. Similar form when third in Group 3 company next time but not seen to anything like best effect when fourth of 13 in minor event at Gowran (9.5f, good) early last month. Opening mark looks fair but 2004 was the last time a 3-y-o won this race.
Lord Massusus (IRE)
Smart performer at his best but winless in 14 starts and operating below that level this season, running respectably without carrying much of a win threat when eighth of 11 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good to firm) earlier in the month. First-time cheekpieces go on.
Far From Dandy (IRE)
Signed off 2025 with a pair of 1m Dundalk wins and has returned in even better form this year, finishing an excellent second in the Spring Mile at Doncaster in March and Naas in May. Ran one of lesser races at the Curragh last month but every chance he will bounce back.
Loughrea (IRE)
Improving sort who got off the mark at the third time of asking in a 1m Curragh maiden in June. Followed up in similarly likeable fashion on handicap bow in 6-runner event at Leopardstown (1m, good) 12 days ago and can continue his upward trajectory. Stall 21 could've been kinder, though.
Pierre Royal (IRE)
Left return/yard debut behind when winning 13-runner handicap at the Curragh (1m, good to firm) last month, displaying a potent turn of foot to lead final 1f. Arrives here very much unexposed and warrants considerable respect being Ado McGuinness' sole representative.
Booyea (IRE)
Has proved rather hit-and-miss since winning at the Curragh back in 2024 but ran up to best sporting first-time blinkers when runner-up to Pierre Royal in that corresponding race (1m, good to firm) last month. Task is to now back that up.
Orandi (FR)
Winner of last year's Irish Lincolnshire but yet to fully fire this year. Much lower in weights than when third in this last season and any market support would be significant.
Genuine Article
C&D winner last summer before finishing a close second in Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh. Left reappearance effort behind faced with what is probably a barely adequate test nowadays when fifth of 12 at Cork (7f, heavy) in May and heads back up in trip. Cheekpieces/tongue tie reapplied.
Lady Lilac (IRE)
Fairly useful filly who shaped as if back in form when third of 9 in handicap at Down Royal (10.4f, soft), seeming stretched by the trip. Drops back in distance in first-time blinkers and she'll need to raise her game to feature.
Lir Speciale (IRE)
Ended 2025 with back-to-back wins over 7f in the mud at Doncaster and has been in largely good form this season, faring best of those held up when fifth of 17 at York (7f, good to firm) earlier in the month. Back up in trip and English raiders always warrant a second look.
Terre De Vega
Very lightly-raced 5-y-o who ran well to finish second in 1m Leopardstown handicap on first start after leaving William Haggas last October. He's clearly fragile, having been tailed off both starts since. First-time blinkers added to his usual hood.
Howyoulikethat (IRE)
On long losing run but turned in best effort of the season away from the all-weather after 4 months off when third of 8 at Killarney (1m, good) recently. This is far more competitive so probably best to look elsewhere.
Kai Lung (FR)
Flat French recruit who made a winning start for Willie Mullins in Naas maiden hurdle back in January. Rather lost his way in that sphere but he rates a fascinating contender on first Flat outing for this yard back from a 9-week break.
Merlin The Wizard
Capitalised on a drop in grade when ending long losing run in 10-runner claimer at Limerick (1½m) last month and seen to maximum effect as he followed up in 10-runner handicap at Ballinrobe (9.7f, good to soft) 5 weeks ago. Looks vulnerable from 4 lb out of weights. RESERVE.
Monvoe (IRE)
Much improved model this year and arrives on the back of 3 wins from his last 5 starts. Found run of good form halted pitched into a higher grade when ninth of 16 at the Curragh (9f) last month and that tempers enthusiasm here from 7 lb out of weights. RESERVE.
Monoceros
Ex-Godolphin gelding who went backwards from his return/stable debut in no uncertain terms when down the field at Musselburgh (9f) last month. Step back in the right direct at Ayr since but clearly needs to offer more before he's of interest. 10 lb out of the weights. RESERVE.
