Timeform View

CIARRAI ABU is a course winner who is very much going the right way and is taken to pull out more now stepping up to 1¼m for the first time. Harmonics should be wiser with his first experience of a big-field handicap behind him and rates a likely threat from a handy draw. Loz Vegas was behind the selection at Ascot last time but shapes as if the step back up in trip will suit and is also shortlisted along with Strength of Spirit and Savvy Disko.

Timeform Comments

Bourbon Blues
Useful performer who ran well when 4 lengths sixth of 18 in Golden Gates at Royal Ascot (1¼m, good to firm) last month but well below par over 1m at Sandown since. Quickly back up in trip.
Evanesco
Very useful effort when winning 1¼m handicap at the Newmarket Guineas meeting in May. Has backed it up with creditable efforts in defeat at Royal Ascot and the Newmarket July meeting but they underline that his current mark demands improvement.
Harmonics (IRE)
Won 1m Southwell maiden in May and looked potentially smart when following up in 1¼m Doncaster novice (firm) in June. Seemed to find the Golden Gates at Royal Ascot a bit of a culture shock but could easily resume his progression with that first experience of a big-field handicap behind him.
Gonna Fly (IRE)
Useful form. Winner of 2 novices and made a creditable start to his handicap career when fifth of 8 at Chester (10.3f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Remains open to improvement.
Savvy Disko (IRE)
Much improved when making successful reappearance on all-weather at Lingfield (1m) in May and backed that up in no uncertain terms when making a mockery of an opening mark of 85 over 9f on turf there in June. 9 lb higher in a much stronger race now but has the potential for better again.
Decade Of Time
Winner of a pair of 1m novices at the start of the summer and progressed again when second of 6 on handicap debut at the Newmarket July meeting (1¼m, good to firm). Could have more to offer but the outside stall has the potential to be awkward.
Birgham Dub (IRE)
Quite useful sort who won his first 2 starts but his mid-field finish in the King George handicap at Royal Ascot (1½m, good to firm) underlines that he needs more from his mark. Back down in trip.
Lion Of Alba
Capped progressive juvenile season with all-the-way success at Chester (7.5f). Bettered that form when excellent fourth in Britannia at Royal Ascot on handicap bow. Only seventh at the Newmarket July meeting since but a step up to 1¼m could suit on breeding. Also tongue tied first time.
Dial Me In (IRE)
Quite useful but hasn't really progressed since a debut win last summer, although it's possible 1½m may have stretched his stamina in the King George V handicap at Royal Ascot last time.
Dark Whisper (FR)
Promising start to his career, beating the reopposing Lean D'aislingean by ½ length when getting off the mark in 1m Ffos Las maiden (good) last month. Not obviously well treated from an opening mark of 87 but there should be more to come, particularly at 1¼m.
Strength Of Spirit (IRE)
Took career record to 3-5 when seeing off 5 rivals at Musselburgh (1m, good to soft) on reappearance in April. Has met with defeat in 5 subsequent starts but has shaped well when reaching the frame in 9f handicaps back at Musselburgh the last twice and his stable has tasted recent success in this.
Ciarrai Abu (IRE)
1m course maiden winner. Shaped well when fourth back here on his handicap debut (1m again) and built on that when getting up late over 1m at Ascot (good to firm) 3 weeks ago. Almost certainly capable of better again, particularly at 1¼m.
Loz Vegas (IRE)
Useful performer who was a bit below his best when 4½ lengths fourth of 11 to Ciarrai Abu at Ascot (1m, good to firm) 20 days ago but he once again left the impression that a return to 1¼m will suit. Not discounted.
Lean D'aislingean (IRE)
Ghaiyyath colt who has learned by the run, finishing ½-length second of 8 to Dark Whisper in maiden at Ffos Las (1m, good) 30 days ago, albeit with the run of the race from the front. Up in trip for handicap debut from a mark which demands improvement.
