Timeform View

A valuable maiden that can go the way of Group 1-entered SO LOVELY, who is bred in the purple and showed plenty when a close second on debut at Leopardstown. Avalon Queen has been shaping well and is fancied to be in the reckoning along with promising pair Elevating and Clarity.

Timeform Comments

Avalon Queen
Masar filly who has hit the frame in a pair of solid-looking Newbury maidens, shaping well when 1¾ lengths third over an inadequate trip (6f) last time. Step up to 7f should help offset the switch to a sharper track and with further improvement expected, she has to be high on the shortlist.
Beguiled
Foaled January 15. 72,000 gns yearling, Make Believe filly. Dam, 9f-1½m winner, sister to smart winner up to 9f New King and half-sister to very smart winner up to 1¼m Military Law out of useful 1m winner Marine Bleue. Appeals on pedigree and top stable 2-2 with juvenile newcomers this month.
Clarity (IRE)
115,000 gns breeze-up filly by Blue Point. Looked badly in need of the experience when 3½ lengths third in briskly-run maiden on racecourse bow at Kempton (6f). Finished off well once the penny dropped that day and she's completely unexposed stepping up in trip on turf debut.
Cloud Chorus (IRE)
Foaled February 10. €30,000 foal, £40,000 yearling, 62,000 gns 2-y-o, Starspangledbanner filly. Half-sister to Italian 9f-11f winner Aretino. Dam, ran once, closely related to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Remember Alexander. Likely to find this too hot on racecourse bow.
Donna Beauty (IRE)
Well-grown filly. Showed only inexperience when well held in 5f Newmarket novice on debut in early-May. May settle into a better rhythm over this significantly longer trip, for all she has plenty of improvement to find on return for 12 weeks off.
Elevating
Closely related to smart 5f winner Fashion Queen. Promising first effort when keeping-on 1¾ lengths second (well backed) in a valuable novice at York (6f), only beaten by one with experience. Now tackles 7f and should be firmly in the mix if improving as expected.
Highland Girl
Foaled May 14. Sea The Moon filly. Half-sister to several winners, including 1m-16.2f winner Notation and 1½m-20.4f winner Temporize, both useful. Dam 1½m-1¾m winner who stayed 16.5f. Likely to find this trip on the sharp side.
Iconic Dream
Foaled January 26. Harry Angel filly. Half-sister to 6f winner Iconic Times. Dam placed at 5f/6f. Doesn't look an obvious type on paper.
La Bassette (IRE)
Foaled March 7. €160,000 yearling, Wootton Bassett filly. Dam, US 6f winner who stayed 7f in France, half-sister to useful winner up to 6.5f Guildsman. Makes some appeal on paper for yard more than capable of readying one.
La Torre
Foaled March 9. Lope De Vega filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 7f winner Hard To Resist and 1¼m winner Queen's Companion. Dam, winner up to 1m (2-y-o 6f winner), half-sister to very smart 7f-9.5f winner Usherette. In excellent hands and is bred to make an impact as a juvenile.
Majestic Flame
35,000 gns foal, 52,000 gns yearling. Pinatubo filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 7f-11f winner Live Each Day and US 5f (including at 2 yrs) winner Grand Oak. Dam winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner) in Britain/US. Newcomer faces no easy task against some better-calibre rivals.
Orchard Hatches
Foaled February 21. Time Test filly. Dam 11f winner. Probably facing an uphill task starting out in a hot maiden.
Siena Storm (GER)
180,000 gns yearling, €600,000 2-y-o. Night Of Thunder filly. Dam, 1¼m winner who stayed 1½m, closely related to useful winner up to 1m Token of Love out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner (stayed easy 1¼m) Nyarhini. Cost a pretty penny and betting usually a good guide for stable's newcomers.
So Lovely (USA)
Wootton Bassett filly out of 1000 Guineas/Oaks winner Love. Holds Group Matron 1 entry. Produced a promising first effort when ¾-length second behind a better placed/more experienced rival at Leopardstown (1m). Drop back to 7f unlikely to be an issue, and she has excellent claims to go one better.
State Of America (IRE)
Foaled February 4. State of Rest filly. Yard's juveniles tend to be better off in nurseries.
