Timeform View

NIGHT RAIDER has been rejuvenated by a gelding operation this season and he may well be good enough to defy a penalty here. This test could bring out the best in Jakajaro and he rates a serious threat, while Rumstar also has the form to go close.

Timeform Comments

Night Raider (IRE)
Had sometimes promised more than he delivered but gelding operation prior to reappearance has evidently made a big difference, dominating a Group 3 at Newmarket before overcoming a tardy start in Temple Stakes at Haydock. Scuppered by a low draw at Royal Ascot since and can bounce back with a bang.
American Affair
Group 1 winner at Royal Ascot last summer. Has run to that level just once this season after 11 months off (length second to Night Raider in Temple Stakes at Haydock on second start) but pulled too hard at Royal Ascot before not best placed at York last 2 outings.
Jakajaro (IRE)
Shaped well when third in Stewards' Cup here last year and has much improved for the switch to front-running tactics this season, winning at Newmarket and York. More than held his own in Group events since, doing particularly well in the King Charles III at Royal Ascot. Another big run expected.
Jm Jungle (IRE)
Made the leap from handicaps to pattern company last season, making most when narrow winner of this. Gradually coming back to the boil this year, close third in strong listed event at York 3 weeks ago.
Lamborghini Bf (IRE)
Prolific winner in Sweden but form is only useful and he's likely to find this level too demanding.
Partisan Hero (IRE)
Has taken his form up a notch since campaigned as a sprinter and backed up his improved Sandown form (third behind Rumstar) when just edged out in Group 2 at the Curragh (length ahead of Jakajaro). Worth his place here.
Rumstar
Won a nursery at this meeting in 2022. Unable to peg back Night Raider in the Palace House at Newmarket on return but is 3 lb better off with him here. Excuses at Royal Ascot next time and quickly back on song when winning Sandown Group 3 for the second successive season 4 weeks ago. Good shout.
Asfoora (AUS)
Three-time European Group 1 winner, landing the Nunthorpe at York and Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp last year. Just denied in this 2 years ago but she hasn't had the same spark so far this season.
Azure Angel
Bounced back to her best when resuming winning ways in listed event at Bath in April. Better form in defeat since, close fourth under a penalty in strong listed race at York. Likely to find a few too strong again.
Time For Sandals (IRE)
Surprise winner of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last season and backed that up when close third under a penalty in this. Long way below those efforts since, however.
Aspect Island
Struggled both starts in Group 1 company this season and benefitted from a return to calmer waters when close second in strong listed race at York. Vulnerable at this level, though.
Brussels
Runner-up 3 times in pattern races last autumn and easily best effort this season when fifth in Group 2 at the Curragh 2 weeks ago, though without suggesting there was much more to come.
Dickensian
Advanced his form when making a winning return in a York listed race. Not seen to best effect both starts since but needs another career best to be competitive here.
Argentine Tango
Wasted no time getting back to form when winning fillies' listed event at Ayr 6 weeks ago but firmly up against it here.
Spicy Marg
Three-time winner as a juvenile. Highly tried first 3 starts this season but produced a standout performance when just edged out in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Might not have been over that huge effort when well held at York since. Drop back in trip unlikely to suit.
