There's a good chance COTTON BUD can resume progress stepping up in trip and she's preferred to fellow 3-y-o Dunkeld Dreamer, who was unsuited by the muddling pace over C&D 3 weeks ago. Low-mileage 7-y-o Gallus Norman has progressed switched to handicaps this year and is another to consider.

Timeform Comments

Cabrera (IRE)
Ran to a similar level in handicaps on first 2 starts this season before out of her depth in listed race at Pontefract. Can bounce back returned to a more realistic level.
High Point (IRE)
A 5-time winner on turf, registering latest success at Yarmouth 7 weeks ago, making all in a good time. Subsequently sold from Ross Burdon for 19,000gns.
Secret Force (IRE)
Flat/hurdles winner in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and cemented a solid start for this yard when winning at Pontefract in June. Unable to land a blow at York next time but made a successful return to hurdles at Cartmel 2 weeks ago. May find this trip on the sharp side back on the Flat, though.
Gentle Warrior (IRE)
Relished the step up to 1¾m last season, scoring in clear-cut fashion at Haydock and Chester in September. Yet to hit those heights this year, however, and cheekpieces replace usual visor.
Dunkeld Dreamer (IRE)
Made all to open her account for the year at Haydock in April. Has continued in good heart since, ridden more patiently when adding to her tally in female amateur riders race at York. Unsuited by steady pace when beaten only a length over C&D 3 weeks ago and remains of interest.
Ouro Preto (FR)
Three-time winner in France but yet to make an impact on these shores for current stable.
Eroico (IRE)
Fair form in maidens for Noel Meade in Ireland last year but below that level in 3 starts for this yard in 2026.
Spanish Hustle
Six-time course winner, including twice last summer, but has proved a difficult ride this season, again pulling too hard 3 weeks ago.
Gallus Norman
Made all in 2 of last 3 starts, including at Ayr 6 weeks ago. Up 4 lb but he's progressive (low mileage for age). Engaged 20.25 Musselburgh Friday.
Cotton Bud (IRE)
Progressive 2-y-o for Kevin Philippart de Foy and took form up another level when making a winning debut for current yard in 1¼m handicap at Doncaster on return in April. Shaped as if still in form at York following month and step up in trip sure to suit.
Wootton's Gal
Bred to need time and distance and can be expected to make more of an impact upped in trip again for handicap debut.
