Timeform View

Having looked a useful prospect in bumpers, CLAY PIGEONS was beaten at short odds on hurdling debut but he is taken to leave that effort behind given his earlier promise. He can make his second start over hurdles a winning one, at the expense of Chantilly Wings and Minella Hollow.

Timeform Comments

Clay Pigeons (IRE)
Point winner who impressed when winning both starts in bumpers (trained by Emmet Mullins on Rules debut). Held back by inexperience when second in a Fakenham maiden hurdle (2½m) in January, but he's a likely improver for his leading yard.
Minella Hollow (IRE)
Won back-to-back bumpers to start his career before beaten favourite in listed race at Cheltenham. Stepped forward from his hurdling debut effort last season when third in a Limerick maiden in October and he's capable of better again as he makes his return.
Earthwatch (IRE)
Fairly useful 1m winner on Flat for William Haggas who showed an aptitude for hurdling on both completed starts in the spring. After a run on the level, seemed unsuited by the step up to 19f back hurdling when fourth of 15 in maiden at Kilbeggan 11 days ago.
William F Browne (IRE)
Fair up to 1m on the Flat but not always the stoutest of finishers. Making third start over hurdles, showed more than previously when fifth of 11 in novice at Galway (17f) 8 days ago, though is still to convince with his stamina.
Haughty
One-time fair performer on the Flat for Alan King. However, pulled up both starts over hurdles in 2024/25 for Mrs Lorna Fowler, before losing her way back on the level. Has fared little better in 3 starts for current yard this year ahead of return to hurdling.
Captain Hanley (IRE)
Fair maiden at best on the Flat and matched that level when runner-up on hurdling debut in a Clonmel maiden (2½m) in May. Not seen to best effect both completed outings since in this sphere, before making the frame back on the level last time.
Chantilly Wings (IRE)
Returning from 10 months off, showed improved form fitted with a tongue strap when second of 8 in maiden at Kilbeggan (19f) 25 days ago, looking in control when rider lost his irons final 100 yards. Not taken lightly.
Kilmond Knight (IRE)
Pulled up sole outing in points. Unseated rider at the first on hurdling debut, before jumping none too fluently when tailed off in maiden at Ballinrobe 2 weeks ago.
Le Roi Arthur (IRE)
Made the frame on second of 2 starts in points and some encouragement when third of 13 in maiden hurdle at Sligo last summer. However, down the field in bumper at Navan in September and has been absent since.
Saviour Blu (IRE)
Well held on completed start in maiden hurdles at Roscommon and tailed off switched to a bumper at Ballinrobe 2 weeks ago. Hood now reached for.
Whoyougonnacall (IRE)
Tailed off in a bumper but was in the process of showing much more when falling 2 out in maiden at Clonmel on hurdling bow, looking set to finish in the frame. Soon left behind a lesser effort when third of 15 in maiden at Ballinrobe 2 weeks ago.
Direct Approach (IRE)
Fair but temperamental maiden on the Flat for Donnacha O'Brien. Shaped a lot better than on first 2 starts over hurdles for current yard when rallying for third in 15-runner maiden at Kilbeggan (19f) 11 days ago, though again didn't look straightforward.
Glenmore Graduate (IRE)
Unpromising in points and it's been a similar story under Rules, well held in a bumper before beaten even further in a Killarney maiden hurdle (23f) 18 days ago.
Leva Deva (IRE)
Pulled up in maiden hurdle at Sligo (2¼m) in May on debut and tailed off in bumper at the same venue the following month. Looks to be up against it.
Prophetess Miriam (IRE)
Held every chance when falling at the last on sole outing in points and runner-up first 2 of 3 starts in bumpers last season. However, she's failed to see things out in 2 maiden hurdles, racing freely in first-time hood at Punchestown (2¾m) in June. Drops in trip.
Speisialta (IRE)
Showed ability despite racing freely when making the frame in a Punchestown bumper in January. However, she refused to race on intended first outing last month and looked a hard ride when well held at Wexford 12 days ago. Makes hurdling debut.
Ataboymiley (IRE)
Pearl Secret gelding. May just be better for this first experience. RESERVE.
John Gun (FR)
Bathyrhon gelding who has a fair standard to aim at first time up. RESERVE.
Goeasyonme (FR)
Montmartre gelding who looks to face a tough ask on debut. RESERVE.
