Timeform View

Preference is for KNOCKNAGORAN LADY, who is thriving at present and remains feasibly treated in her hat-trick bid. Sound Judgement, Western Model and She'll Be Kept make up the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Born Bright (IRE)
Dual-winning hurdler in 2024/25 and matched that feat over the larger obstacles last season. Acquitted herself well under both codes this term and ought to give another good account here.
Mephisto (IRE)
Completed a hat-trick in this sphere last August and shaped well in a couple of starts early last month. Needs to bounce back from a poor run at Galway last week, though.
Kalanisi Flash (IRE)
Showed aptitude for chasing (dual winning pointer) returning from 16 months off at Downpatrick last August but pulled up all 3 subsequent starts, back hurdling the last twice. Tries blinkers now but is best watched.
Sound Judgement (IRE)
Winning pointer who found improvement, in first-time cheekpieces, when taking 11-runner novice hurdle at Cork (3m, good) 25 days ago, driven out. Goes handicapping now and may have more to offer.
Starzov (IRE)
Not scored since 2023 and offered little encouragement in a handful of starts last year. Off 11 months.
Mavetherave (IRE)
Lightly-raced 6-y-o maiden. Hit frame in points and closely related to useful 3m hurdler. Best effort when runner-up in 2¾m Downpatrick maiden on good ground last summer before leaving W. R. Crawford this spring. Possibly needed run on stable debut last time.
Priory Park (IRE)
Won handicap chase at Limerick and handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe last season. Has won when fresh but has far more poor returns and will need to be at his very best to make an impact here.
Getaway Charlie (IRE)
Sole win from 27 NH runs came back in 2023 and there has been little to shout about in more recent outings. Cheekpieces on for first time.
It's Not His Fault (IRE)
Best effort over hurdles came when third at Tipperary on debut and well beaten on handicap bow at Thurles when last seen in March. Makes limited appeal.
Itsaworkinmaniam (IRE)
Well beaten when last seen at Cork 9 months ago but had found improvement when second in Navan maiden hurdle previously and is worth monitoring in market on return/handicap bow. Tongue strap on first time.
Mr Dibbs (IRE)
Posted career best, in first-time blinkers, when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Sligo (3¼m, good to soft) 84 days ago, just holding on. Has since joined Gavin Cromwell and is not taken lightly.
Western Model (IRE)
Confirmed promise of previous run when narrowly winning 16-runner handicap hurdle over a longer trip at this course 29 days ago, digging deep. 5 lb higher now but warrants plenty of respect.
She'll Be Kept (IRE)
Posted career best when easily winning 16-runner handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (2¾m, good) 14 days ago by 8 lengths from Smackwater Jack. 11 lb higher now but is not taken lightly.
Glitz And Glamour (IRE)
Made it third time lucky over hurdles at Sligo last August. Not really built on that since, though, no more than respectable sixth at Cork latest. Others preferred.
Sallap (IRE)
Made it 3 wins from her last 4 completed starts (set to win when falling at Thurles last October) when scoring at Limerick last month and far from disgraced when fifth in Galway handicap hurdle (3m, good) 2 days ago. Respected.
Knocknagoran Lady (IRE)
Fallen to a career-low mark and got back on the up in no uncertain terms when scoring at Limerick last month. Made light of 9 lb rise when taking 15-runner handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (3m, good) since and is a must for the shortlist.
Wild Mandate (IRE)
Overcame a shoddy round of jumping when enterprisingly ridden to open her account at Sligo last month, only narrowly holding on. Well held at Galway since, however. RESERVE.
Smackwater Jack (IRE)
Returned to form to win 13-runner handicap at Punchestown (3m) in July and posted solid placed efforts since, latest when good 8 lengths second of 16 to She'll Be Kept in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (2¾m, good, 14/1) 14 days ago. This looks tougher, however. RESERVE.
Its Not Over Yet (IRE)
No win since 2024/25 and arrives on back of poor effort behind Western Model in handicap hurdle (11/2) at this course last month. RESERVE.
