Timeform View

JESSE LUC has a much better draw than last time and can record a first success of the season from a handy mark. Dorney Lake and Baba Reza are also a well-treated pair and should be thereabouts.

Timeform Comments

Beattie Is Back
Just failed at Wolverhampton (7f) in February and not seen to best effect on next 2 outings. Shaped better than distance beaten suggests at York last time, faring best of those racing in stand-side group. Is kept to 6f but can't be taken lightly from 2 lb below last winning mark.
Dorney Lake
Belatedly capitalised on his much-reduced mark at Doncaster (5.6f) last month and backed that up when second under a penalty at Pontefract next time. Can have his most recent run at York overlooked having had the worst of draw. Remains well treated and no surprise if bouncing back.
Spirit Of Jenny (IRE)
Has had a good year from 3 starts this season, winning over C&D in April. 10/3, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Leicester (6f, firm) when last seen in May. Remains relatively unexposed and can go well again.
Fierce (IRE)
Made the frame on first 3 outings this season. Wasn't seen to best effect when sixth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) in June, hampered start. Steps back up in trip.
Baba Reza
Enhanced good record fresh when runner-up on return (following another breathing operation) at Carlisle in June and backed that up when third at Wolverhampton the following month. Remains well treated.
Jesse Luc
A 6-time winner on the all-weather over this trip last year, though is now twelve runs since last success. Better than bare result when sixth of 11 in handicap (17/2) at Wolverhampton (6f) 31 days ago, left poorly placed. One to note in the betting now 4 lb below last winning mark.
Sarafina Mshairi
A winner twice last year, including over C&D in October. Has made little impact from 2 starts this season. Steps back up in trip but needs a return to form.
Camera Shy (IRE)
Ended a losing run over 7f at this course in March. Made the frame when last seen at Ayr (7f, good to firm) at the beginning of May. Steps back down in trip and returns to the all-weather.
Fan Mail
C&D winner last autumn. Has turned in some good efforts in defeat this season though has looked a little awkward on occasions. Ran poorly over 7f here 2 weeks ago. Others more persuasive.
