GWEEDORE hasn't been at his best so far this season, but he's now 7 lb lower in the weights than for his last success here in November. With blinkers applied, it would be no surprise to see him land a sixth C&D win, at the expense of the hat-trick seeking Eagle Bay who hasn't been done any favours by the draw. Augustus Gloop completes the shortlist.

Made the frame over 6f first 4 starts of the campaign (beaten favourite on each occasion), before getting back to winning ways in 18-runner contest at York (7f) 2 weeks ago. Can give another good account.
Gweedore
5-time C&D winner, with his latest success in November. Yet to fully fire this season, though he's dropped to a handy mark as a result. Worth another chance back here with blinkers on first time and a low draw to work from.
Misunderstood (FR)
Smart form at best in France. Lost his way during 2025 but has shaped as if building up to something for current yard this season, weakening only late on when length seventh of 18 to Jonny Concrete at York 2 weeks ago.
Eagle Bay
Promising third on debut for Ed Walker last autumn. Impressed in making it 2-2 for current yard this year, following up his Thirsk success with another dominant all-the-way win at Chester 6 weeks ago. Can make another bold bid now handicapping, though has widest draw to overcome.
Passing Thought
Showed much improved form on seasonal/handicap debut when doubling her tally at Wetherby (7f) in April. Met trouble in running when mid-field in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot (1m), so she could fare better back down in trip/grade.
Vixey
4-time winner at around 7f in 2025 and stepped forward from this season's reappearance with a good second at Chester in July. Found things tougher at Goodwood 10 days ago (also sweated up beforehand), but she's back down in grade here.
Augustus Gloop
Won at Newcastle (6f) final start last year and good second on handicap debut at Wolverhampton in January. After a couple of lesser efforts, got back on track following a break (had been gelded) when fourth of 9 at Wolverhampton (7f) 3 weeks ago. Interesting on turf debut.
One Night Thunder
Recorded back-to-back 7f wins at Carlisle in September. Encouraging third at Haydock on second run back this season, before below-par efforts over 1m the last twice. Back down to his last winning mark and return to this trip should be more suitable.
Native Honey (IRE)
All 3 career victories over 7f at Ayr, taking advantage of drop into a class 5 last month. However, his form has been in and out this season, last of 5 at the same course 11 days ago.
Zarvali (IRE)
Trained by John Patrick Murtagh last year, showed improved form upped to 7f on seasonal/stable debut when winning a Catterick novice in May. Ran well in handicaps next 2 outings, before below-par effort tried over 1m at York last time.
Ashen (IRE)
Not long with present stable when opening account at Ayr in May. Continued in good heart when making the frame next 3 starts, before left with a lot to do when never involved in race won by Jonny Concrete 2 weeks ago.
