Timeform View

MOULIN BOOJ didn't do a lot wrong when second trying to win a Thirsk handicap for the second time 10 days ago and a repeat of that level may well suffice. Grandlad is all speed and is dangerous if getting into a nice rhythm, while Michaela's Boy is a threat at this level if on one of his going days.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

A decent pace still shouldn’t detract from the chances of those who race on or near the front end such as Grandlad: The forecast decent pace still isn’t likely to sway the advantage towards those usually ridden further back such as is Moulin Booj.

Timeform Comments

Michaela's Boy (IRE)
Bounced back from a quiet spell when doubling his tally for the year at Yarmouth in June. Underlined that consistency isn't his strong suit when last of 8 at Lingfield a month ago and connections now reach for cheekpieces down slightly in class.
Moulin Booj (IRE)
Keen-going sort who has largely run well since scoring at Wolverhampton (5f) in March, finding only a well-treated rival too strong at Thirsk 10 days ago. Same mark here so hopes are high that he can go one place better.
Forager
Made all in 5f all-weather handicap at Lingfield in October but couldn't lead when only sixth of 7 back there in November. Shaped as though in need of the run after 7 months off at Goodwood in May but she's been off again since.
Mesaafi
Resumed winning ways over 5f at Windsor in June and was unlucky not to finish even closer when beaten a half-length into fourth over the same C&D next time. Struggled in a better race at Ascot and didn't do enough over 6f latest to seriously consider him, albeit this is easier.
Grandlad (IRE)
Made a winning reappearance over C&D in April. Well held at Newmarket last month and while he was seventh of 11 at Chester latest, he wasn't beaten far. Likely to make a bold bid from the front.
Goyard (IRE)
Won maiden and novice at Ripon last year. Ran well when third of 9 on 5f reappearance in June but has beaten just one rival on 2 starts since, presumably amiss at Pontefract 16 days ago.
Jax Edge
Capped a largely consistent 2025 with success at Bath and proved better than ever back at that track when winning 10-runner event (5.5f, good to firm) in June. Both starts since suggest the assessor may just have her now.
