RETURN TO UNIT left his previous form behind tried in blinkers when bolting up at Nottingham a couple of months ago and this extra distance should suit. He can win again. Dwindling Funds, Spoken Truth and Strength of Spirit are just a handful of others to consider in a competitive handicap.

Timeform Comments

El Matador (IRE)
NON RUNNER.
Return To Unit
Opened account at third attempt at Nottingham in October and having disappointed on return/handicap debut, was back on song in first-time blinkers when doubling his tally at same course a couple of months ago, first off the bridle but looking better the further he went. More to come upped in trip.
Point Of Contact (IRE)
Newbury maiden winner (at 1m) who showed benefit of reappearance run when making breakthrough in handicaps at York (9f) in June, showing a good attitude. Found out in a higher grade at Sandown since but this should be more suitable.
Altareq
Low-mileage Frankel gelding who posted a career best when gaining a first win in 10-runner handicap at Ayr (1¼m) last month, always holding on. Easy to excuse his York effort under a penalty 6 days later (ran into all sorts of trouble under 2f out) so would be folly to discount.
Impartiality
A 3-time winner (around 1m) early last summer. Gradually working his way back this time and was back to his best when second of 10 at Chester (10.3f, good to soft) a couple of months ago. Freshened up since but will likely find this tougher from 2 lb higher.
Spoken Truth (IRE)
Not long with new connections and has shaped well on several occasions, in a far better race than he need contest but again running well when fourth of 11 at Ascot (1m, good to firm) 17 days ago. Plenty to like returned to class 3 company.
Cadarn (IRE)
Began 2025 with 2 Redcar wins (for George Boughey) and returned to form from out of the blue in a reapplied tongue strap when landing 14-runner event at York (1m) in June. Again ran well when narrowly denied at Ripon (1m) last month and no reason why he won't give another good account.
Double Parked (IRE)
Front runner who won 3 times at Redcar last season and produced a career best to resume winning ways in 14-runner event at York (10.3f, good to firm) in June, benefiting from a handy position but encouragingly showing a better attitude. Work to do from 4 lb higher.
Galyx (IRE)
Dual winner in 2024 but lightly raced in recent seasons, faring much better than he had on his reappearance when fourth of 14 at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) a couple of months ago, deserving extra credit having been more prominently ridden than the 5 around him. Respected if able to build on that.
Dwindling Funds
Likeable type who won 6 times during a remarkable 2025. Had been knocking at the door this summer and added to his tally in 15-runner event at York (1m, good to firm) 17 days ago, that a first win outside Scotland. Nudged up 3 lb and fancied to be in the shake up.
Swift Salian (IRE)
Back-to-back winner last year and has proved as good as ever this season with 3 runner-up finishes, again no sign of him doing anything untoward in 9-runner event at Nottingham (8.3f, soft) a couple of months ago. Freshened up since.
Strength Of Spirit (IRE)
Took career record to 3-5 when seeing off 5 rivals at Musselburgh (1m, good to soft) on reappearance in April. Has met with defeat in 6 subsequent starts, though far from discredited given he didn't settle fully upped to 1¼m when tenth of 14 at Goodwood 12 days ago. Worth considering.
Brigid's Well (IRE)
Went the right way as a juvenile last season but has struggled to make an impact this year, including when dropped in grade at Ayr (1m, good to firm) just over 5 weeks ago. Handicapper drops her another 3 lb but needs to show more before becoming of interest.
Blue To Blue (IRE)
Triple winner for Karl Burke in 2025. Mixed bag for new connections, running one of his better races without posing a serious threat when third of 4 at Redcar (1¼m, good to firm) just over 3 weeks ago. Wouldn't be sure to build on that here.
