Timeform View

SOUTH WEST, whose Catterick win last month has been boosted could be the answer from a very fair opening mark. Nursery debutants Viking Barbie and Sultan Darius could also improve in what looks an interesting race for the grade.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Beautiful Effort traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 3 starts: Wolf's Gallop traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 4 starts.

Timeform Comments

South West (IRE)
Took a step forward on second start in blinkers when dominating to score by 4½ lengths in a Catterick novice last time. That form is working out better than may have been expected (debutant in third a much-improved winner since). Has to be high on the shortlist despite an 8 lb rise.
American Psycho (IRE)
£130,000 breeze-up purchase. Chased home subsequent Norfolk Stakes winner at Salisbury on debut in May. Some mitigation both starts since, shaping as though he'll be sharper for his 3 lengths fourth of 7 on turf course here latest. Very interesting now switched to a nursery. NON RUNNER.
Viking Barbie (IRE)
Split a fairly useful pair when runner-up at Sandown on third start. Has been freshened up following a disappointment at Beverley subsequently and yard's juveniles have made a bright start in nurseries over recent weeks.
Wolf's Gallop
Went the right way in maiden/novices, showing plenty of speed when third on qualifying run at Windsor (5f). Beaten less than a length when well-backed fourth of 9 on subsequent nursery bow. Could better that on a sharper track.
Beautiful Effort
Looked the likeliest winner before serving up her weakest finish to date when beaten over 5½ lengths on qualifying run at Kempton. Could have a bigger performance in the locker now tried over 5f on nursery bow.
Sultan Darius (IRE)
Expensive son of Starspangledbanner. Held back by his free-going ways both starts since debut fourth at Windsor, formerly in Doncaster novice that has worked out well. Could do better for addition of a hood, his opening mark hardly looking a prohibitive one.
Stoney Wood (IRE)
Has been brought along steadily in maidens, finishing 3¾ lengths fifth of 12 at Southwell latest. Type to do better now tackling a nursery.
Miss Moneypit
Showed improved form to make a winning nursery debut in an ordinary event (5f, good to firm) at this course. Didn't really last out over the extra furlong when beaten 2¼ lengths here subsequently. Entitled to be more competitive back down in distance, with handy draw to aid on all-weather bow.
From Me To You (IRE)
Showed plenty of inexperience in 3 starts over the spring. Stiff task on return from 10 weeks off (gelded in the interim) in the Newbury Super Sprint latest, having again been slowly away. Should benefit from addition of more severe headgear/switch to a nursery, though.
Secret Rival (IRE)
Speedily bred 60,000 gns daughter of Ardad. Only form from 3 starts when beaten 4 lengths sixth of 10 in a muddling affair at Newbury second time up. Still respected for yard that is 2-2 with nursery debutants this month.
