PURE GOLD looked ready to peak again when third here last month and appeals most at the weights. Summer Hurdle third Squeezebox and dominant Cartmel winner Filibustering are feared, while Useful Flat performer Nap Hand isn't taken lightly on second hurdle start for Chris Gordon.

Timeform Comments

The Last Cloud (IRE)
Highly progressive when completing a C&D hat-trick (2-2 in handicaps) prior to creditable efforts in the Grade 1 Formby and Grade 2 River Don. Took his first wrong step when pulled up at Kelso in late-February and now 12 lb higher returning to handicap company.
Filibustering
Strong travelling type. Arrives on the up for his excellent yard, landing his third successive hurdle success in emphatic fashion at Cartmel in late-June. A 7-lb rise may just be enough to end his winning sequence.
Squeezebox (IRE)
Free-going sort when successful on 2 of his 3 starts in novice company last summer/autumn. More amenable this season and followed his stylish reappearance success with a solid 6¼ lengths third in a briskly-run Summer Hurdle last time. Could be more to come on just third handicap start.
Medieval Gold
C&D winner who ended his time with Micky Hammond on a high at Carlisle (soft). Underlined a promising start for current yard when runner-up (clear of subsequent winner) at Catterick (19f) in late-February. Blinkers now added (previously had positive effect on Flat), and he's capable fresh.
Fidendum
Quirky sort enhanced his strong Market Rasen record when notching a second win in 3 starts there last time. He'll likely face competition for the lead this time and looks worth taking on in a better race/away from his beloved track.
Nap Hand (IRE)
Useful Flat winner who scored over hurdles in a Stratford novice last summer. Placed in 4 of 7 handicaps since, latterly when 8½ lengths behind Filibustering (now 8 lb better off). Forgivable effort on the level since and could make more impact on just his second hurdle outing for Chris Gordon.
Scriabin (FR)
Showed a good attitude when narrowly defeated here before dictating to land a belated first success in a C&D novice last time. Arrives at the top of his game, though likely to be vulnerable in a stronger handicap than he need contest.
Pure Gold
In top form when winning 3 times in 4 starts between July/October last year, including a smooth C&D success. Much more like it when 1½ lengths third in course handicap (2½m) latest. Up in class but she still appeals in a race that could be run to suit.
