Timeform View

GOLDEN LONG is going the right way since joining this yard, making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts in a race that is working out really well at Newmarket, so he looks up to defying a 4 lb higher mark. Previous course winner Zubaru and the consistent Ancient State head the opposition.

Timeform Comments

Zubaru
Going through an excellent spell when last seen, winning twice in 5 starts including at this track in June. Not disgraced when fifth of 10 in a handicap at Newmarket in July and can go well returned to this venue.
Golden Long (AUS)
Won 2 of last 3 starts, including a handicap at Newmarket in July which is proving really strong form and a 4 lb rise for that success looks lenient so he's well capable of following up.
Ancient State (IRE)
Won back-to-back in June at Newmarket and Lingfield and produced a creditable fifth of 13 at Windsor 19 days ago, racing far too freely but still not far from his best. Stable short on winners of late but claims if settling better.
County Carlow (IRE)
Won over 6f at Sligo in cheekpieces in May then second of 6 at Fairyhouse over 7f in June, both in cheekpieces (now removed). Makes handicap debut on first run for new yard and drops in trip which should suit. Much less exposed than the rest of these so needs keeping an eye on.
Brummell (IRE)
Just respectable efforts when making frame 2 of 3 starts this year, finishing fourth of 10 in a higher grade at Chester when last seen in June. More required.
Papa Cocktail (IRE)
Largely consistent handicapper who was runner-up over C&D in June but not at best when sixth of 10 at Wolverhampton last time and is yet to win off a mark this high.
Flash Rascal
Showed consistency on all-weather through the winter before winning a 6f turf handicap at Haydock for Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole in April. Returns from 112 days off and needs to prove fitness starting out for a new yard back up in grade.
Squealer (IRE)
Dropped significantly in the weights this year and was third of 4 in a weak affair at Nottingham 25 days ago but this looks much tougher and he's hard to fancy.
Lion's House
Better effort when second of 6 at Newmarket 7 days ago, running on well despite missing the break. Not the most consistent though and yet to notch a turf success from 11 attempts.
Justmyluck
Won at Newcastle on all-weather in January but has struggled since, including when fifth of 5 at Hamilton Park 29 days ago in first-time hood, struggling to go the early pace. Back up slightly in trip but plenty more needed.
