Back-to-back winner at Newcastle early in the year and has made the frame twice over C&D since, returning to form when 2 lengths fourth of 7 here 12 days ago. Winner of this race in 2024 so he could be in the mix.
Woodstock
Arrives in decent heart, again travelling well when making the frame in a class 3 at Thirsk (7f) a fortnight ago. Had shaped encouragingly when mid-field in this race last year and could be ready to get back to winning ways from what is a handy mark.
Roberto Caro (IRE)
Without a win so far this season but was a close fourth over C&D in April. After a couple of lesser efforts, took a step back in the right direction when 3½ lengths tenth of 17 at York (5f) 3 weeks ago. Interesting having dropped to a career-low mark.
Magic Boy (GER)
Promising return when runner-up over C&D in June and built on that at the second time of asking when landing 19-runner contest at York last month. Below-par effort back at York 22 days ago, but he's not yet fully exposed in handicaps over this trip. Worth another chance.
Anaisa
Kept busy at 2 yrs, winning twice including listed race over this C&D. Hasn't managed to kick on in handicaps so far this season, though possibly needed the run after 9 weeks off when mid-field at York 22 days ago.
Go Vince Go (IRE)
3-time winner as a juvenile who has made the frame on several occasions this season, keeping on for third in 12-runner contest at York (5.5f) 22 days ago. Can make his presence felt with return to 6f promising to suit.
Emperor Caradoc (FR)
Off the mark for the season at Thirsk in May. Good second at Nottingham last month but has run only respectably in 2 subsequent outings, never nearer when fourth of 8 at Pontefract 10 days ago. Blinkers now replace regular cheekpieces.
Dorney Lake
Capitalised on a much-reduced mark at Doncaster in July and, having had excuses at York on penultimate outing, bounced back to winning ways at Southwell 9 days ago. Back up in grade here but he arrives in good heart.
Mister Sox
Enjoyed a productive 2025 with 4 victories, including 2 over this C&D. However, his record has been mixed this season, merely closing up late when fifth of 8 at Doncaster 10 days ago.
Tolstoy (IRE)
Quirky sort who went without a win last year, but ran better than for a while when fourth of 8 at Southwell (7f) in January. After 6 months off, left poorly placed when down the field at York (6f) last time, so he's worth a market check from his reduced mark.
Who Wants Me (IRE)
Finally off the mark at Carlisle (7f) in June and followed up with a ready success dropped to 5f at Ayr. Raced in the unfavoured group when well held at York (6f) last time, though reverted to showing an awkward side under pressure.
Vince L'amour (IRE)
Winner over 5f here in May. Had struggled for form subsequently, but with blinkers refitted he bounced back when second of 6 at Thirsk 8 days ago. Task is now to build on his latest effort.
Beyond Borders (IRE)
Took advantage of his falling mark at Wolverhampton in June and runner-up over C&D next time. Below form on final run for Kevin & Lauren Frost, but there were more positive signs when 1¾ lengths fifth of 12 on stable debut at Southwell 19 days ago.
Educating Rita
Without a win since scoring on her handicap bow 2 years ago when trained by Michael Dods. However, she showed the benefit of seasonal/stable debut when third of 21 at York last time. On a career-low mark if able to back up latest effort.
Mark's Choice (IRE)
Has a remarkable Ripon record, successful 10 times at this course, and in the frame twice here this summer. Lesser effort at Doncaster last time, but returns to his favourite venue with the regular cheekpieces now reapplied.
