Timeform View

BOLD OPTIMIST was back to his best when runner-up at Naas last time and a repeat of that effort should see him go close. C&D specialist Mary Shoelaces beat Harry's Hill here last month and both should be in the mix again.

Timeform Comments

Mary Shoelaces (IRE)
Hadn't been at her best earlier this season but returned to form from out of the blue to notch a third C&D success in an 18-runner handicap 29 days ago by ½ length from Harry's Hill. Respected after 6 lb rise.
Soulful Diva (IRE)
Failed to build on an encouraging return when ninth of 10 in handicap at Naas (6f, good to firm, 12/1) 25 days ago but remains low mileage in handicaps.
Arctic Steps (IRE)
Confirmed previous promise for current yard this season when winning at Naas in May. Found things tougher upped in grade at Dundalk next time and again down the field when eighth of 12 in handicap at Naas (5f, good, 11/2) 43 days ago.
Bold Optimist (IRE)
Shaped well when third at Dundalk in February on return and returned to form from this reduced mark when second of 12 in handicap (7/1) at Naas (5f, good) 43 days ago. Has good chance if in same form this time.
Harry's Hill
A dual C&D winner in the past. Has dropped significantly in the weights and hinted at a revival at Naas on his penultimate start before building on that promise with a very good ½-length second of 18 to Mary Shoelaces in handicap (11/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 29 days ago. Enters calculations.
Happy Henry (IRE)
Improved model this year, winning handicaps at Navan in June and Bellewstown in July. Came from a long way back when 1½ lengths fifth of 18 to Mary Shoelaces in handicap (10/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 29 days ago. Can give another good account.
Surpass And Shine (IRE)
Successful twice over 5f last year, with latest win at Down Royal in June. However, ended the campaign with 2 below-par efforts and was down the field on his return from almost a year off at Fairyhouse last month. May come on for that but others are preferred.
Kiss Don't Tell
Havana Grey filly who posted best effort to date when 3 lengths second of 9 to Fox In Flight in maiden at Dundalk last time. Makes handicap debut after 8 months off. Engaged 5.28 Cork Friday.
Heart Of Eternity (IRE)
Made the frame all 3 starts for Charlie Appleby but yet to fire for her current yard, well held again at Cork 3 weeks ago.
Ballysax Lil' Mick (IRE)
Respectable sixth behind Happy Henry at Navan on return from 4-month absence in June but failed to build on that when thirteenth of 21 in handicap at Naas (5f, good, 12/1) 53 days ago.
Pure Valour (IRE)
Well held making handicap debut in first-time tongue strap at Fairyhouse (8.5f) last month.
Lady Landhort (IRE)
Winner over 6f at Dundalk in March and posted best effort since when third of 8 there (5f) in April. Not disgraced back on turf last time but still to prove herself as effective as she is on polytrack. Makes debut for new yard. Engaged 5.28 Cork Friday
