Timeform View

MISUNDERSTOOD has been shaping up quite well in recent starts and may prove the answer to this competitive handicap. Commander of Life, Golden Strike, Son and Native Instinct head the many dangers.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Of those forecasted with a better chance, King Of Fury could be most vulnerable in a race in which competition for the lead looks to be fierce: A strong early pace seems highly likely. Commander Of Life could be suited if held up as expected.

Timeform Comments

Hunky Dory
Dual all-weather winner. Caught wider than ideal when third of 11 in claimer at Wolverhampton (6f) 20 days ago (final start for Jack Morland). New stable among the winners.
Misunderstood (FR)
Smart form at best in France. Lost his way during 2025 but has shaped as if building up to something for current yard this season, not seen to best effect when never-nearer fourth of 11 at Musselburgh (7f) last time. Gets the vote.
King Of Fury (IRE)
On a hat-trick after a pair of 7f Southwell wins last month. Has to be respected in current mood but has never won on turf.
Count Palatine (IRE)
Won this race under Sean Kirrane last year. Bit mixed this year but latest 1m Ayr sixth creditable and he's feasibly handicapped again.
Commander Of Life (IRE)
Consistent sort who won 6-runner handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm, 7/4) 27 days ago, overcoming pace bias. Can make presence felt off 5 lb higher.
Lord Bertie (FR)
Not straightforward but found things panning out ideally when opening his account for present yard over 6f at Doncaster (heavy) last autumn. Below last winning mark and has shaped as if back in some form in recent starts. Might be of more interest when the ground goes soft again, though.
Son
Ex-Richard Hannon gelding who has been shaping up well in defeat for his new yard this season, including sixth of 15 in handicap (4/1) at York (1m, good to firm) 25 days ago. Enters calculations.
Native Instinct
Finally off the mark in handicaps when making all at Musselburgh (7f, good to firm) 7 weeks ago. His stable's continued good form provides hope that he can build on that.
Lord Capulet (IRE)
Has been thriving this year, gaining a fifth success of the campaign in a 7f Redcar handicap in May. Also placed in May/June but his run of good form came to a halt at Doncaster last time.
Havana Prince
Bounced back to his best with his reappearance under his belt when winning 11-runner handicap at Newcastle (7f) in March but well held in a couple of big-field races at York in May. First outing for 3 months.
Golden Strike (IRE)
Bar a disappointing effort at the Doncaster Lincoln meeting he's done well since visored, bouncing back to form with a bang to land a 22-runner York handicap (7f, good) in May. Good fifth of 18 in handicap at York (7f, good, 11/2) 26 days ago. Likely to figure.
Vince Lombardi
Three all-weather wins between October and January. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Southwell in February and off since. Former course scorer but may need this after his break.
