CAVOLO NERO ended his time for James Ferguson on the up with success at Yarmouth and is taken to make the perfect start for Harry Eustace having been nudged up just 2 lb. Recent Lingfield scorer Malachy's Wish is next on the list under a penalty, although handicap debutant Rogue Defence and last year's winner Port Road also need factoring in.

Timeform Comments

Cavolo Nero
Got back on the up (in a change of headgear) when winning 11-runner handicap at Yarmouth (1m, good to soft) in June on his final run for James Ferguson, pulling well clear with the second. Nudged up just 2 lb so big shout for new yard.
Malachy's Wish
Last on his seasonal return but greatly improved with success in 7-runner all-weather handicap at Lingfield (7f) 8 days ago. Carries 6 lb penalty but not taken lightly with few miles still on the clock.
Helm Rock
Hard to knock his consistency and gained a deserved C&D win in April. Comes here on the back of a good fourth of 8 in handicap at Ascot (1m, firm) last time. In the mix once more.
Talis Evolvere (IRE)
C&D winner but he arrives below par, only sixth of 7 in handicap at Chepstow (1m, good to firm) 13 days ago. Others appeal more.
Rogue Defence
Improving Dark Angel gelding who went 2-3 with victory in 12-runner all-weather novice at Lingfield (1m) last month, always holding on. That form has been franked so got to be of interest now going into handicaps.
Port Road (USA)
Dual 7f/1m all-weather winner early in 2026. Not seen to best effect when fourth of 7 in 7f all-weather handicap at Lingfield 11 days ago. Took this in 2025 and must enter calculations.
Royale Goodnight (GER)
Debut 7f winner here. Only twice raced after for Daniel & Claire Kubler but posted a good second at Southwell (11f) in April 2025. Well beaten for new yard after another 13 months off at Newbury (1¼m) in April and needs to take a big step forward.
White Crown Star
Course winner last March for Andrew Balding. Off 11 months (gelded) and has offered little both starts for his current handler this summer.
Port Erin (IRE)
C&D winner. Took a step back in the right direction with fifth of 6 in handicap at Ffos Las (1m, good to firm) in June. Possibilities off a slipping mark.
