Timeform View

A wide open finale. The unexposed STARLIGHT LASS displayed a taking turn of foot when going in at Yarmouth and is fancied to take this step up in class in her stride now going handicapping for her top yard. Hat-trick seeking Tryst rates a big threat though, while Oolong Poobong is weighted to go close too now freshened up after a break. Progressive types Secret History and Zooella complete the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Bellarchi (IRE)
Is enjoying a fine season and recorded her fourth win in listed fillies event at Chester (7f, good to firm) in June. Turned in a rare below-par effort when sixth of 12 in listed race at Pontefract (1m, good) last month. The sort to bounce back though.
Royal Velvet
A dual 7f winner at Newmarket and Lingfield (Group 3) in the spring. Got back on track with fifth of 13 in Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) 22 days ago. No forlorn hope in her bid to follow up last year's success in this event.
Mubasimah (IRE)
Highly tried since making a winning debut at Newmarket (7f) last September. Posted a good fifth of 8 in Group 2 at Chantilly in May but failed to settle and well held in Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) only run since.
Lam Yai (IRE)
Low-mileage 3-y-o who signed off for 2025 with victory in listed race at Doncaster (6f, heavy) in October, beating Figjam 1½ lengths. Off since (has undergone a breathing operation) and this is no easy comeback on her handicap debut trying 7f for the first time.
Just Call Me Angel
Returned with success in Italian 1000 Guineas at Milan in May. Well held all 3 runs since however, in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and 1m Goodwood handicap last 2 occasions. Others appeal more.
Tryst (IRE)
On the up since dropped to 7f and fitted with cheekpieces, landing handicaps at Yarmouth and Newmarket, readily making all on latest start 19 days ago. Up 6 lb but she's a big player in hat-trick bid.
Carnival Of Light
Lightly-raced sort who followed up 7f Wolverhampton maiden win with victory in 9-runner handicap over same C&D 20 days ago. This is much tougher off 4 lb higher.
Bella Lyra (GER)
Fairly useful 6f winner at 2 yrs. Has rejoined former yard after a couple of heavy defeats at Santa Anita in May/June. Hard to fancy.
Oolong Poobong (IRE)
Bagged 7f handicap at Haydock before an excellent fourth in the Sandringham last summer. Only seen twice since and failed to build on a fifth at Thirsk (1m) on return when well held back in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot 9 weeks ago. Handily weighted if reviving after a break.
Figjam (IRE)
Winless this season but she posted a good sixth of 13 in Group 3 Summer Stakes here (6f) in July. Below-par seventh of 9 on belated handicap debut at Ascot (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Needs to bounce back.
Beaujolais Nouveau
Done well since fitted with cheekpieces and landed 6f handicap at Ripon in May. Right back on song when fourth of 20 behind a couple of these at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 23 days ago. 7f fine and could make her presence felt again.
Caim
Made a winning debut at Beverley in September and built on that when runner up in 7f listed event at Newbury a month later. Low-key return after 7 months off when last of 4 in novice at Leicester (1m, firm) in May. Much more is needed on her handicap debut after another break.
Albaydaa (IRE)
Largely progressive type who won 7f Carlisle handicap in May. Not discredited with fifth of 10 in listed race there (7f, good to firm) following month. No forlorn hope back in handicap for leading yard.
Perfect Part (IRE)
Winless since her debut in 2024 but she's a useful handicapper who posted a very good second at Thirsk (1m) in May. Not at her best when seventh of 9 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, firm) 33 days ago. Bounce back needed.
Machadadorp
Winner of maiden at Chester and novice at Wetherby over 7f in early summer. Very good second on handicap debut at Newmarket (7f) in July and not disgraced with sixth of 20 behind several of these at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 23 days ago. May do better back up to 7f here.
Starlight Lass
Improving Dubawi filly who has easily landed a pair of 3-runner 1m novices at Newmarket and Yarmouth this summer. Showed a good turn of foot on latter occasion and she's a very interesting prospect now going handicapping.
Starfinch (IRE)
Made a winning start for new connections in 6f novice at Southwell in January. Advanced her form on handicap debut when third of 4 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm) four weeks ago but this is a lot harder.
Secret History (IRE)
Largely progressive and she gained a third win at Newmarket (7f) in July, despite going very freely. More settled when a good third of 20 in handicap at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 23 days ago, splitting Woohoo and Beaujolais Nouveau. Merits consideration.
Cotai Belle (IRE)
Still progressing gradually and has finished second on her last 4 starts in handicaps, most recently in 5-runner event at Leicester (6f, good to firm) 29 days ago. This is tougher on first go over 7f.
Woohoo (IRE)
Scored at Musselburgh in April and has been knocking on the door of late, faring best of a number of these when second of 20 at Goodwood (6f) and again going down by a neck at Musselburgh. Unproven over 7f and this is tougher anyway.
Zooella (IRE)
Zoustar filly who has returned much improved this summer with successes in 6f handicaps at Lingfield (all-weather) and Thirsk (turf debut). Strong at the finish on latter occasion 27 days ago so very much one to consider back up to 7f.
