Timeform View

There's plenty to suggest that MIA FANTASIA is a well-handicapped horse, and he looks the pick at the weights in an ultra-competitive renewal. Rising Tiger did finish ahead of the selection earlier in the season and could be the main danger for connections with an excellent record in this race. Most of the likely front runners are drawn high, which may also bring Weleyff and Revels into the mix. Mirzimaan completes the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Big Cigar (IRE)
Newcastle novice scorer who made a winning nursery debut here (6f) in July in smooth fashion. Subsequently found a Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood too hot, and he'll need to improve for the extra furlong in a stronger race than he won last month. Engaged 2.25 York Wednesday.
Revels
350,000 gns Lope de Vega colt. Decisively landed the odds first time at Redcar (7f) before well held in the Chesham. Much improved when coming home with a rattle to make a winning nursery debut at Goodwood (6f) last time. Likely more to come back up in trip given his pedigree/connections.
Shadow King (IRE)
Had blinkers on first time when overcoming a pace bias to make a winning start in nurseries at Doncaster (6.5f) last month. However, he was seemingly found out under a penalty in this sort of company at Goodwood subsequently.
Perfect Nation (IRE)
Green when chasing home now-useful Flann Sunna first time up at Windsor. Much more professional when going one better at Lingfield (7f) and was again well backed when following up at Ffos Las. Hat-trick seeker will continue to improve for top connections, though the handicapper hasn't missed him.
Soldier Of The Sea (IRE)
€100,000 breeze-up purchase who made a successful start to his career when getting up late at Ffos Las (6f). Still a bit green when unable to give weight to a promising newcomer at Salisbury latest. Step up in trip will need to bring about significant improvement on nursery bow.
Weleyff (IRE)
Progressive 145,000 gns Too Darn Hot colt. Clocked some notable closing sectionals off a slow gallop when making it second time lucky at Ayr (7f). Ridden more positively (had run of race) to decisively capitalise on a lenient opening mark at Doncaster latest. Can make a bold bid for the hat-trick.
Rising Tiger (IRE)
Runner-up on all 3 starts to date, chasing home a smart prospect at Ascot (finishing ahead of Mia Fantasia) before just failing to peg back Roosike at Southwell (7f) latest. Bigger performance expected now switched to a nursery by yard with excellent record in this race.
My A'ali Baba
Successful in strongly-run 6f event at Chepstow on debut. Mark looked on the stiff side when beaten 5¾ lengths in a nursery at Goodwood. Vulnerable off only 1 lb lower here, having faced a stiff task in listed company at Salisbury (1m) last time.
Bymiddaytomorrow (IRE)
Has made hay on recent trips North, opening her account in an Ayr maiden prior to digging deep to make a successful nursery debut at Thirsk. Going the right way but the hat-trick may prove beyond her now upped in grade.
The Ginger Kid (IRE)
From a useful/speedy family. Got off the mark at Nottingham prior to being outclassed in the Coventry. Runner-up both nursery starts, beating several of today's rivals when 2 lengths off well-placed winner in the Whispering Angel at Goodwood (7f) latest. Can give a good account off 1 lb higher.
Mirzimaan (IRE)
Proved a totally different proposition than on debut when successful in a big-field Newbury novice (6f) and looked most unlucky not to follow up in muddling race at Newcastle (6f). Very much unexposed now switched to a nursery/longer trip, though appears to have been overlooked by Billy Loughnane.
Telegraphic
Dominant Brighton novice winner who made a bold bid to follow up under a penalty at Yarmouth, only worn down late by a similarly promising sort. Weighted to at least be competitive on nursery debut and looks well drawn among the pace.
Caeruleus (IRE)
Improving Blue Point colt who knuckled down well to land a Newcastle novice (6f). Got across from a wide draw when beaten just over 2½ lengths (behind The Ginger Kid) off this mark at Goodwood subsequently. May again find a few too good at the weights.
Mia Fantasia (IRE)
Created an excellent impression when making a winning debut at Carlisle (7f) in late-June before chasing home Rising Tiger at Ascot. All the rage in the betting when shaping much better than the result from a difficult draw at Goodwood last time. Well worth another chance from lenient-looking mark.
Roosike (IRE)
Placed on first 2 starts before making all in a Southwell novice (7f) last time, just holding on from Rising Tiger. She's given the handicapper plenty to go off, though, and others look more favourably treated.
Koodini (IRE)
Off the mark at the sixth time of asking in a 4-runner Catterick nursery last month. Tough ask in a considerably stronger event this time.
High Hazard
Finished ahead of Weleyff (who's won twice since that debut run) when second at Beverley in early-June. Looks unlikely to confirm that form, though a poor draw offers mitigation for a pretty flat nursery debut at Goodwood last time. Cheekpieces now added.
Regal Tiger
Improving son of Kingman who finished ½-length second when beaten favourite on nursery debut at Windsor (6f). Step up in trip could see him take another step forward (half-brother to useful 7f winner), however, Mia Fantasia looks the stable's leading hope.
Theheatison
Saw off a couple of next-time out winners to get off the mark in a Bath novice. Step up to this trip saw him run his best race when beaten less than 1¼ lengths in Newmarket nursery last time. May be outclassed in this company, though.
High Calibre
Backed up his qualifying run improvement when 1¼ lengths behind a progressive one on nursery debut at Newmarket (1m) last time. This demands significantly more, though.
Rbflying (IRE)
Showed up okay when beaten 7¼ lengths in a similar event at Glorious Goodwood. Tongue strap added this time and again vulnerable in a better race than he need contest.
Fasthope (IRE)
Race set up perfectly when collaring a subsequent winner (who'd set a strong pace) to get off the mark on nursery debut at Pontefract (6f). Up against it in a much deeper race, for all the extra furlong ought to suit.
