Timeform View

DARVEL won this race last year and comes here in consistent form. He therefore looks sure to give his running and that could prove good enough to get the better of Thiscouldbefun, who looks obviously well treated having escaped a penalty for a recent course success but did have the run of things that day, while Kimeko Glory and Prince Rasam could be threats, too.

Timeform Comments

Marsh Benham (IRE)
Resumed winning ways in 1m handicap at Sandown 29 days ago, proving more straightforward than usual. Harder task now up 4 lb but has top amateur aboard.
Kimeko Glory
Yet to win for this yard but was creditable third of 6 to Thiscouldbefun over C&D 8 days ago when taking keen hold in first-time cheekpieces and weakening final 100 yds. Blinkers back and she's back below last winning mark.
Darvel (IRE)
Won this race for this rider last year from 1 lb higher mark and is proving consistent of late, making the frame on last 3 outings. Looks sure to be in the mix.
Prince Rasam
Lightly raced and ran one of his better races when second of 14 in a handicap at Kempton in May after 7 months off. He's had little racing at this trip but looked suited by it last time and now returns to turf after another 3-month break so is one to take seriously.
Prodigal Son
Won at Bath in first-time blinkers in April but not in same form last 3 starts, racing too freely when 9th of 12 in a handicap at Sandown 29 days ago.
Optimatum
Not straightforward but won over this trip last summer for Charlie Johnston. Struggled since joining this yard, though. Return to 1m may help.
Palazzo Persico (IRE)
Has an in-and-out profile for current yard, following wins with poor runs. Won at Catterick over 1½m in July but only fifth of 6 in a handicap at Nottingham 22 days ago, taking a keen hold and fading. Now drops to 1m and it's hard to know what to expect.
Thiscouldbefun (IRE)
Won similar event over C&D 8 days ago, capitalising on a falling mark under an enterprising ride and seen to maximum effect from the front. Holds obvious claims given she escapes a penalty here but not certain to enjoy the same advantages with different apprentice taking over.
