Timeform View

William Haggas has a 43% strike rate in handicaps at this course and having landed last year's corresponding event with an unexposed 3-y-o, his WILD DAHLIA is fancied to follow suit. In-form Polygram and thriving Saxon Grace appeal most of the remainder.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Second Fiddle traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 3 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Krissy (IRE)
Forward-going type. Held on gamely to notch her fourth win of the season at Musselburgh (9f) in June. Seemingly found a busy spell catching up with her at Ayr last time and will likely find a few too good at the weights here, even if back on song following a short break.
Polygram
Fairly useful sort who opened her account in 7-runner handicap at Pontefract (1m) and nearly made it a double under a penalty at Ripon (1¼m) last time. Has to be high on the shortlist in her current vein of form.
Porth Eilian
Low-mileage 3-y-o from family that improved well with age. Made a successful handicap debut here (1m) prior to getting back on the up with success at Beverley. Found wanting for a change of gear when 4½ lengths third of 5 at Nottingham (8.5f) latest, and this slightly longer trip should help.
Foxy Night (IRE)
Night Of Thunder filly who has made the frame on all 5 starts to date. Cheekpieces on when again going close (third won since) in a 7f all-weather maiden at Wolverhampton last time. Switch to a handicap demands more, though she is bred to appreciate this significantly longer trip.
Thankfully (IRE)
Improved on her 2 juvenile runs when landing a Beverley maiden (8.5f) on return. Handicapper has given some much-needed respite following a couple of slow-starting efforts at Chester and York (7f) last month. Return to longer trip/calmer waters does no harm, either.
Wild Dahlia
Form of debut third at Newmarket reads well. Opened her account at Chelmsford before chasing home a fairly useful one at Kempton final juvenile start. Returned from 9 months off/breathing operation with encouraging third at Redcar (1m) latest. Strong claims for trainer with good record in this race.
Sharona (FR)
Looked to be going the wrong way for present yard last year. Plenty to prove back on the Flat following 13 months off.
Second Fiddle (IRE)
Got off the mark at this course last autumn before progressing to win 5 of her next 6 at Newcastle. Back in fine heart this summer, coming from a less-than-ideal position (often starts slowly) when third in steadily-run handicap here (8.5f) last time.
Saxon Grace (IRE)
Strong-travelling type has been firmly on the up since the switch to longer trips. Looked unlucky not to win over C&D earlier this month before rattling off a quick-fire hat-trick, scoring cosily by a length at Ripon 6 days ago. A double penalty may just be enough to end her winning sequence.
