Timeform View

YABHER hails from a top yard and can make amends for his luckless Goodwood effort 24 days ago, where he was denied a run and badly hampered in the final 1f. The step back up in trip should suit and he's preferred to Tiernan, who won a novice here 20 days ago and should prove suited by this longer trip. Salamanca City is thriving and could make an impact upped in grade.

Timeform Comments

El Burhan (IRE)
Crucially has won all 3 times he's raced on ground softer than good and was a good third of 12 in a handicap at Southwell 15 days ago after 3 months off. Up 3 lb for that but may get the ground in his favour so not without hope if lasting out the extra distance.
Yabher
Won impressively by 6 lengths at Goodwood in May and can easily be excused latest effort when getting no run at the same track. Wears tongue strap for the first time here and stable has won this 2 of the last 5 years so he's one to take seriously upped to a trip he's already won at.
Strassia (FR)
Won a listed race at Saint-Cloud in 2024 but struggled for this stable last year, returning lame when last seen in September. Now makes handicap debut after a long absence with a first-time hood applied and plenty to prove.
Noble Horizon
Front runner who bolted up at Leicester in June then ran well in stronger company when second of 17 in a handicap at Goodwood 24 days ago. Steps up to this trip for the first time with his pedigree suggesting he'll be suited by it so could prove hard to peg back.
Teumessias Fox (IRE)
Hold-up performer who has looked smart at his best but needs luck in running and he had an issue when last seen, pulling up at Royal Ascot in June. Needs to bounce back.
Lavender Hill Mob
Edging down the weights but has shown little encouragement over 2m+ in 2026, most recently never threatening when eighth of 10 in a handicap at Ascot 13 days ago. Needs drop in trip to spark a revival.
Spioradalta
Tough performer who won at Ripon in May and proved himself at this trip when second of 7 to Salamanca City there in a handicap 34 days ago. Bit more required in this deeper contest.
Evanesco
Won impressively over 1¼m in May and showed similar form when third of 14 at Goodwood 22 days ago when allowed to set modest gallop. Not sure to get the run of things here and has stamina to prove for new trip.
Salamanca City (IRE)
Has won 3 of her last 4 starts, including back-to-back handicaps over this trip at Goodwood in June and Ripon 34 days ago, the latter with plenty in hand. Up 5 lb now and faced with a much deeper race but she's not one to discount for stable that continues to thrive this summer.
Ashnak (FR)
Consistent for this yard prior to second of 12 at Ayr over 13f in June when shaping encouragingly. Produced his first disappointing effort for current connections last time but could bounce back.
Evaluation
Useful stayer on Flat for Lucinda Russell in 2024 but not seen in this sphere since and is very hard to make a case for starting out for a new yard at this level after 310 days off.
Altareq
Low-mileage Frankel gelding who posted a career best when gaining a first win in 10-runner handicap at Ayr (1¼m) in July. Not seen to best effect when meeting trouble at York on next outing but recent flop at this track 10 days ago is harder to excuse. Now up in trip and grade.
Elsass (IRE)
Won first 2 starts this year, including here in May but was amiss at Newmarket in July and hasn't looked especially well treated twice since. Returns to the scene of his latest success which may help.
Tiernan (IRE)
Useful sort who belatedly built on 3-y-o promise to win a novice by 4 lengths over 11f at this track 20 days ago. Makes plenty of appeal from current mark back in handicap company at a track which clearly suits and back up to a trip that should suit for a trainer who won this race last year.
Letsbefrank (IRE)
Twice a winner at this course and also scored at Pontefract 5 days ago over 17f in a 5-runner handicap, landing the £100k Sunday Series bonus for the second time in 3 years. Back down in trip under a penalty and evidently thriving but this looks a lot tougher.
