Timeform View

DANDY MAGIC has struck up a rapport with the good-value claimer Lauren Young and she can defy a penalty to notch back-to-back C&D success. City Captain has been absent for a few months but his form in the spring would give him a major shout here, with Miraculous also respected on the back of a recent all-weather success.

Timeform Comments

Winged Messenger
Enjoyed a fine 2025 when a 3-time winner, signing off with success in Ayr Bronze Cup (6f) in September. Shaped well with a Redcar fourth on return and not best drawn when eleventh of 21 at York (6f) next time, though hard to find any excuse for his latest below-par effort at Doncaster.
City Captain
Progressed throughout 2025, winning 4 times, and was right back to his best when second to a handicap blot at Thirsk in April. Fared best of those that raced in proximity to a strong pace when fourth of 10 in handicap at Haydock (7f, good) next time. Respected if ready after 104 days off.
Montezuma
Confirmed promise of his return when getting off the mark in big-field handicap at Musselburgh (5f) in April and finished runner-up over that C&D for the third time this season at the back end of last month. Rare disappointing effort there a fortnight ago and now steps back up in trip.
Lord Bertie (FR)
Not straightforward but found things panning out ideally when opening his account for present yard over 6f at Doncaster (heavy) last autumn. Yet to fully fire this season, though again shaped like he retains the bulk of his ability when a never-nearer ninth of 18 in handicap at York (7f, good).
Wobwobwob (IRE)
Hasn't won since 2024 but that's reflected in his mark. Returned to some sort of form with a couple of outings under his belt when fifth of 8 at Goodwood (7f, soft) in June but not in same form at York 5 days later. Visor goes back on.
They All Know Me
Suited by a strong pace gallop when off the mark at Carlisle (7f, soft) in May and finished with running left after being given a mountain to climb at Doncaster next time. No obvious excuses when tenth of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 56 days ago and now drops to sprint trip.
Miraculous (IRE)
Took advantage of a reduced mark in a 10-runner handicap at Southwell (6f) 15 days ago, well on top at the finish and essentially scoring with a bit up his sleeve. 5 lb rise looks manageable and he's respected back on turf.
Dandy Magic (IRE)
In the frame on 4 consecutive starts before producing a career best to win a 12-runner handicap over C&D (good to firm) under this claimer 10 days ago. Can go well again under a penalty.
Daizen (IRE)
Ended his 2-y-o season in good style with success in an Ayr maiden and worked his way back to form this year, proving better than ever when winning at Thirsk in July. Failed to repeat that effort by a long chalk when beating only one home in a 17-runner event at Ayr last time.
Iris Dancer
Prolific winner over C&D, scoring 3 times this season (latest was her 12th overall). Those wins have tended to come at a lower level and she was just 4 lengths ninth of 12 to Dandy Magic over C&D 10 days ago.
