Timeform View

The 3-y-o handicap over this trip at Glorious Goodwood looks the key piece of form here. Runner-up ZENNOR STORM was one of several who shaped better than the result and is taken to go one place better this time. Intense Vision and Storming Point are others who very much caught the eye in that Goodwood contest and head the dangers along with Britannia runner-up Outback Heat and Le Samourai, who has snuck in at the bottom of the weights and also bagged the inside stall.

Timeform Comments

Exclusive Code (IRE)
Off the mark in 1m maiden at Newbury (1m) on return. Caught on the wrong side in the Britannia at Royal Ascot next time and quickly back on the up when seeing off a few of these rivals in 1m Glorious Goodwood handicap, albeit with the run of the race from a plum draw. A 9 lb rise demands more.
St Anton (IRE)
Only mid-field in the Britannia at Royal Ascot but resumed his progression to make it 3 wins in last 4 starts at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) 6 weeks ago. A further 6 lb rise makes life more difficult, though.
Outback Heat
All 4 starts at 1m, winning Newcastle maiden and Ascot handicap. Continued his trend for race-by-race improvement when excellent second of 30 in Britannia at Royal Ascot (good to firm) in June, deserving of extra credit having made his challenge wide of where the main action unfolded.
Command The Stars (IRE)
Three wins at 2 yrs (including French listed on good to soft) and also second in a big-field nursery at this meeting. Gelded after a slightly disappointing start to the current campaign and back on the up when first past the post in 1m Ripon handicap last month (demoted for causing interference).
Blue Courvoisier
Improved to bag a valuable prize at Carlisle (1m, good) in May. Raced on the unfavoured part of the track in the Britannia at Royal Ascot and quickly back on form when third of 15 over 9f at Glorious Goodwood 3 weeks ago. The Clive Cox yard is going well.
Noelan Star (GER)
Failed to figure in the Britannia at Royal Ascot but back on the up at Ripon (1m, good to firm) last month, passing the post second to the reopposing Command The Stars but awarded the race after suffering interference. This is a much harder race but the Ed Bethell stable is in flying form.
Zennor Storm
Won 7f maiden and 1m novice on all-weather at Kempton late in 2025. Back on the up after being gelded, building on C&D fourth when length second of 19 to Exclusive Code at Glorious Goodwood (1m, good to firm) in first-time cheekpieces (retained), finishing strongly from off the pace. Major player.
Lion Of Alba
Capped progressive juvenile season with all-the-way success at Chester (7.5f). Bettered that form when excellent fourth in Britannia at Royal Ascot on handicap bow but has found things harder at the Newmarket July meeting and Glorious Goodwood since. Bounce back needed.
Welbury
It's really clicked for him in handicaps of late, scoring over 1m at Pontefract and Redcar (by 7 lengths) on last 2 starts. More on his plate off 11 lb higher in this 3-y-o only race but his yard is in excellent form.
Intense Vision
Unbeaten in 2 starts in France last year and running well in defeat for his new yard, shaping considerably better than the result when 3¼ lengths eleventh of 19 to Exclusive Code at Glorious Goodwood (1m, good to firm), finishing well having been left with way too much to do. Shortlisted.
Jeddaal
Lightly-raced improver. Travelled smoothly when scoring by 1½ lengths in a useful 3-y-o handicap at Chester (7.5f, good to soft) in June. No extra late on as if first outing for 7 weeks may have just been needed when fourth of 11 over 1m at Thirsk latest.
Ironwill (IRE)
Headstrong sort who landed the third win of his career when getting up in the final strides at Newmarket (7f, firm) in June. Bettered that form when second of 13 at Glorious Goodwood (7f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago but stamina isn't assured stepping up to 1m.
Bearish (IRE)
Progressive sort who took his career record to 2-4 when making a successful start to his handicap career at Ayr (1m, good to firm) in July, getting up late to deny a next-time-out winner. Raised 5 lb but it's unlikely he's reached his limit.
Eklleem
Improved effort back from a gelding operation when making all in good style at Ripon (1m, good to firm) in June. Marquand sticks with Zennor Storm but this lightly-raced sort is open to further improvement moving into his first handicap.
Krasimir (IRE)
Yet to finish outside of the front 3 in 8 starts, deservedly getting off the mark in maiden at Dundalk (1m) in July. Good close third over an extended 1m at Galway since but will need a career best to keep that record of always finishing in the first 3 going. First-time cheekpieces replace blinkers.
Astrazar (IRE)
Failed to win over 5f/6f on his first 5 starts but 2-2 when stepped up to 7f last autumn, including valuable conditions race here. Best effort in handicaps this year when close second of 6 at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) 34 days ago. This is a lot more competitive but good claimer takes 3 lb off.
Storming Point
Placed in maiden/novice events on his first 4 starts and made a promising start to his handicap career with cheekpieces added (retained) when 3 lengths sixth of 19 to Exclusive Code at Goodwood (1m, good to firm) 22 days ago, left with too much to do after dropping in from wide draw.
Daydreama
Dual 6f winner last year. Good second over 7f at the Dante meeting here in May and back in that sort of form when edged out by Noelan Star at Ripon (third past post but Command The Stars demoted after causing interference).
Start Me Up
Has benefited from a gelding operation, landing back-to-back Chester handicaps at up to 7f in June. Creditable sixth of 13 in Glorious Goodwood handicap (7f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago but isn't sure to benefit from this step up to 1m.
Le Samourai (IRE)
Left his debut behind to win a 7f Kempton novice and showed useful form when narrowly denied under a penalty at Thirsk (1m, good) 3 weeks ago. Should be more to come in handicaps. Well drawn.
