Preference is for PEARL RIVER who soon got back on track returned to a longer trip when fifth at Goodwood last time. With this extra distance promising to suit, the 3-y-o gets the vote ahead of the in-form Goblet of Fire, with last year's winner of the race Arqoob also considered.

Has proved better than ever back on the Flat this year, landing a heritage handicap on the Rowley Mile at this venue in May. Good effort when close third over C&D at the July Festival and he could be thereabouts once more.
Sixpack
Has taken his form up a notch for James Owen this season, making it 3 wins from 5 starts with a wide-margin success over C&D in June. Ran no sort of race next time, but soon bounced back when ½-length second of 8 to Arqoob here (1½m) 3 weeks ago.
Arqoob (IRE)
Easy winner of this race last year and added to his tally in 8-runner contest at this course (1½m) 3 weeks ago by ½ length from Sixpack, suited by the way the race developed. Can give another good account returned to this longer distance.
Bulletin (IRE)
Reliable type who again ran up to his best when beaten only by a bright prospect in 12-runner handicap at Kempton (1½m) 10 days ago. Is yet to win this season, though, and his consistency means that he hasn't been getting any help from the handicapper.
Pearl River
Doubled his tally at York (1¼m) in May before bumping into a progressive type when second of 3 at Salisbury (1½m) next time. Left behind a lesser effort in the John Smith's Cup when fifth of 13 at Goodwood (11f) and looks worth a try at this trip. Interesting contender.
