Timeform View

This looks a good opportunity for MY OLD MATE to regain the winning thread. Marsh Benham can give him most to think about if bouncing back from a heavy defeat at Salisbury on Friday.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

My Old Mate traded at a low of 2.22 and Betfair SP of 2.10 when losing last time, a race in which it led.

Timeform Comments

Marsh Benham (IRE)
Temperamental 3-time C&D winner. Finished runner-up here on return and looked more straightforward than usual when comfortably going one better at Sandown. Not so good up 4 lb at Salisbury on Friday but must be respected in this company.
War Chant (IRE)
Successful on his sole start at this track. Has continued below form for current yard (his third stable in less than 12 months). Hopes pinned on return to this course/refitting of cheekpieces (no impact when previously worn).
Nordic Norm
Winless since his debut success at Newcastle for Karl Burke. Did go close at Chelmsford in March but has finished weakly both subsequent starts, latterly on return to turf at Chester (7.5f) in June. No surprise to see tongue strap added on return from 10 weeks off.
My Old Mate (IRE)
Steadily progressive 3-y-o. Made amends for a near miss over 1m at Windsor in June with a pair of victories over the same C&D. Too free under a 7 lb claimer when third on his hat-trick bid at Lingfield (all-weather) on Tuesday. Should resume winning ways with Billy Loughnane (1-1) returning.
Danehill Star (IRE)
Multiple all-weather winner. Went as close as he has on turf when third at Windsor (1¼m) before turning in a rare poor effort over C&D last time. Probably extends his losing run on this surface (0-14), even if bouncing back in another change of headgear.
