Timeform View

RAFFLES NOBU looks well worth another chance to build on his decisive Newton Abbot success last month. Graecia could be very dangerous if back on song following a break. Saturday's Newton Abbot winner Playful Fox would have to be feared if turned out again quickly.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Cawthorne Banker traded at more than 10 times Betfair SP twice when winning during its last 5 starts: Zafaan traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP twice and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 4 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Zafaan (IRE)
Hasn't built on an encouraging second behind Cawthorne Banker at Uttoxeter last October. Does at least have fitness on his side following a respectable summer on the Flat (won a classified event in late-June).
Playful Fox (FR)
Much improved this summer, taking 2m Stratford handicap hurdle and resuming winning ways sent off at 2/13 with bloodless success in Newton Abbot novice on Saturday. Big player if turned out again quickly.
Ez Tiger (IRE)
Has paid his way at this level, recording a fifth career success in a small-field event at Plumpton (2m, soft) in October. Chased home a resurgent one over C&D on reappearance prior to running a rare poor race from a career-high mark here last time.
Kernie D'airy (FR)
Purchased for £155,000 after winning a French bumper. Fitted with a tongue tie when making all in an ordinary C&D maiden in June. Wasn't seen to best effect in a sprint finish here on handicap bow subsequently. Still early days and return to positive tactics could see her in a better light.
Graecia (IRE)
Headstrong mare who ran creditably in much better company than this over the winter. Had been on the go for a while when below form in the spring and likely to have benefitted from a break. Interesting if settling on return to the C&D of her sole previous hurdle win.
Crown Of India (IRE)
Only denied a third C&D success by a handicap debutant in June. Bumped into one with a solid course record when ¾-length second at Market Rasen subsequently. Likely to give his running again following a 7-week break.
Mojo Ego (IRE)
Capitalised on much-reduced mark when making a winning stable debut over C&D in early-June, digging deep to fend off a next-time-out winner. Best not judged on his run over longer trip at Market Rasen (21f) since, and he remains well treated on the best of his old form.
Cawthorne Banker (IRE)
Chased home a subsequent winner over C&D before enhancing his fine Uttoxeter record when completing a handicap double there in blinkers last month. Made hard work of beating Ocean Heights by 2½ lengths on the latter of those starts. Probably vulnerable bidding for a hat-trick off 4 lb higher.
Network Rgb
Stoutly-bred individual. Brought along steadily in juvenile hurdles last winter. Didn't improve sent handicapping following 7 months off at Uttoxeter (2m) last time (well held behind Cawthorne Banker). Excellent yard likely to get more out him at some stage, possibly when stepped up in trip.
Raffles Nobu (FR)
Having dropped 35 lb in the weights since his British debut in February 2025, he readily snapped a long losing run at Newton Abbot last month. Promised more than he delivered when turned out quickly under a penalty at Cartmel. Fancied to do better back over a bare 2m following a short break.
Ocean Heights
Dual winner on the Flat last spring. Has run creditably to place on 2 of his 3 hurdle starts this summer, again shaping as though worth trying over further when 2½ lengths behind Cawthorne Banker at Uttoxeter (2m) last time. This looks a slightly stronger event, too.
Connemara Joe (IRE)
Cheap purchase who was unplaced in Irish points. Showed only a little more than previously when beaten 24¼ lengths over C&D on qualifying run. Hard to see him making an immediate impact in handicaps, even with first-time cheekpieces added.
Castle Quarter (IRE)
Veteran who got off the mark in a thin Uttoxeter handicap (2m) in May last year. Back to form with visor fitted when 2½ lengths behind Cawthorne Banker on return to scene of his sole success last time. No sure thing to be in the same form here.
Genbu
Beat a couple of next-time-out winners when doubling his tally over hurdles in a Uttoxeter handicap (2m) in May. Had remained in form (including third behind Crown of India here) prior to a forgettable chasing debut at Marken Rasen last time. Now reverts to hurdling off his latest winning mark.
