Timeform View

It could be worth taking a chance on RUN AWAY JOE, who had some creditable form in points prior to last season and returns in a weak race. Buxted Reel is strongly considered following a couple of solid placed efforts earlier this summer, while Ask Peter should be more at home back in handicap company.

Timeform Comments

Run Away Joe (IRE)
Low-mileage 6-y-o. Some merit to the form of his first placed effort in points in early-2025. Well-beaten favourite in Ascot bumper on Rules debut and didn't offer much at long odds over hurdles. Handicapper has offered a reprieve, though, and worth a second look on return from 7-month break.
Buxted Reel (IRE)
A 3-time Flat winner on the all-weather. In good form when placing at Stratford/Uttoxeter earlier this summer, the form of the latter solid-enough for the grade. Isn't judged too harshly on his latest run at Redcar (0-17 in turf races on the level). Solid claims of a first hurdles victory here.
Most Wanted (IRE)
Fair Flat winner. Offered little in handicap hurdles prior to making a successful chasing debut in a poor 4-runner event at Fakenham in late-May. Hasn't kicked on from that, and he now reverts to hurdles after checking out tamely at Market Rasen last time.
Linden Lane (IRE)
Looked back in form when close behind Ask Peter over C&D in June. Didn't fully settle but seemingly beaten by more than the longer trip when well held over 2¼m here subsequently. Record under Rules now stands at 0-19 (also failed to complete in 4 point starts).
Pivotal Days
Fair 7f Flat winner for Ed Walker in 2024. Showed some aptitude for hurdling at Worcester (2m) in late-May but offered little since, latterly when sent off at vast odds running in his first handicap back hurdling at Worcester (2½m). Hopes seemingly pinned on first-time tongue strap/cheekpieces.
Ask Peter (FR)
Fair winner up to 1¾m on Flat. Went close to opening her hurdles account over C&D in June. Failed to repeat that effort over 2¼m prior to facing stiff task in a course maiden last time. Should at least be competitive back in a low-grade handicap.
Estate Planning (IRE)
Long-standing maiden. Supported to capitalise on his slipping mark when beaten 17 lengths on return at Stratford in June. Back from further 10 weeks off with cheekpieces refitted, headgear previously making no difference to this tricky customer.
