One of Ireland's premier handicaps and it looks another typically competitive renewal. PIERRE ROYAL is still relatively unexposed after just 7 career starts and once again left the impression there's a valuable 1m handicap with his name on it when fourth in another strongly-contested event at the Galway Festival on his latest outing. Loughrea is progressing notably well and looks the type to win more races, while Johnny Sodaa, Kalir and Hellorhighwater are others to take seriously.

Most likeable 9-y-o who looked as good as ever as he brought up win number 10 at this track in a 6f listed event in June. Gave his all when runner-up in 7f Group 2 next time and easy to excuse latest effort having lost his footing on more than one occasion. Stays 1m but best efforts at shorter.
Hardy Warrior (IRE)
Won 1m minor event in March before finishing third in Group 3 at Longchamp. Produced best effort in first-time cheekpieces when fourth of 17 in BMW Mile (handicap debut) at Galway and shaped as if still in good form when third in listed race at Killarney last week. Visor on for first time.
Ribee (IRE)
Enjoyed a fine 2025 campaign and improved again as he completed the hat-trick in decisive fashion in a valuable C&D event on return in March. Excellent second from 9 lb higher over 1¼m 2 starts later and again ran creditably after 5 months off when fifth of 17 in the BMW Mile at Galway latest.
Rahmi (IRE)
Produced a smart effort when winning premier handicap at Leopardstown in September last year. A good way below that level this season but came home well stepping back up to 1m when second in 6-runner minor event at Gowran latest and the assessor has given him a chance.
Pierre Royal (IRE)
Left return/yard debut behind when winning 13-runner C&D handicap in June, displaying a potent turn of foot. Improved again when denied only by a rejuvenated rival in BMW Mile at Galway and turned in another solid effort back there 4 days later, in spite of the drop in trip. Interesting back at 1m.
Lord Massusus (IRE)
Smart performer at his best but operating below that level season and, while he wasn't disgraced in a first-time tongue strap at Galway on most recent outing, there's an element of him going through the motions somewhat.
Loughrea (IRE)
Improving sort who got off the mark at the third time of asking in a 1m Curragh maiden in June. Followed up in similarly likeable fashion on handicap bow in 6-runner event at Leopardstown (1m, good) 44 days ago and can continue to go the right way for all that this is more competitive.
Dos Mukasan (FR)
Useful performer in France, winning minor events at Longchamp and Chantilly in 2025. Yet to fully fire for current yard, though his latest effort at Galway was at least a step back in the right direction.
Final Voyage (IRE)
Hold-up performer who ended long losing run under this claimer at Cork in late April. Not so good next 2 starts but returned to form when ½-length second of 10 to Kalir in handicap over C&D (good to firm) 20 days ago, nearest finish. Cheekpieces go back on and he merits consideration.
Booyea (IRE)
A long time without a win but has been given a chance by the handicapper and ran up to his best in first-time blinkers when runner-up over C&D in late-June. However, wasn't in the same form from a 5 lb higher mark when eighth of 10 to Kalir back over C&D latest.
Hellorhighwater
Progressive form in maidens for Gavin Patrick Cromwell last season, getting off the mark at Cork (1m) final run. Showed even better form when making a winning return for new yard in 16-runner handicap at Limerick (1m) in April and open to further improvement.
Manton Bay (IRE)
Gained reward for a string of solid efforts this year when winning 8-runner minor event at Killarney (1m, good) 8 days ago. 7 lb penalty shouldn't prevent him from giving another good account.
Kalir (IRE)
Is progressing well since his gelding operation and supplemented his Killarney maiden success in 11-runner handicap over C&D latest, scoring by ½ length from Final Voyage under a well-judged ride. Has a 6 lb higher mark to contend with but further progress can't be ruled out.
Playin Cool (IRE)
Low mileage 4-y-o came from a less-than-ideal position when third over C&D in June. Missed the break when down the field in a valuable Leopardstown handicap latest. Each-way claims on his previous course form.
Genuine Article
Successful at Galway before finishing a close second in this corresponding event last year. Shaped as if better for the run after a 12-week break when down the field in the BMW Mile at the Galway Festival but failed to a beat a rival in another well-contested handicap there later in the week.
Slieve Binnian (IRE)
C&D winner who confirmed his return to form when fourth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 14 days ago, despite needing stronger gallop. Drawn close to the likely pace back at 1m and this should be run to suit.
Engines On (IRE)
Ran a cracker from 6 lb out of the weights when third of 15 in this race last year prior to resuming winning ways back at 7f on final outing. However, has offered little encouragement in 3 runs this season, including in a first-time visor latest.
Johnny Soda (IRE)
Progressive sort who registered a third win of the season in 1m handicap at Killarney in July. Progressed again when narrowly coming up short in his hat-trick bid at Galway just over a fortnight later and can't be taken lightly despite being 3 lb out of the weights.
