This listed event looks wide open but it could pay to side with WARRANT HOLDER who had looked firmly on the up until a beaten favourite in the John Smith's Cup at York and can bounce back in style having been freshened up since. Sea Scout is feared most on the back of an encouraging reappearance at Haydock, although both Respond and Tenability need factoring in too.

Timeform Comments

Tenability
Most progressive (4-time winner) in 2025. Has continued on the up this summer, landing listed event at Goodwood before 1¼ lengths third of 6 in Prix de Reux at Deauville 3 weeks ago when not ideally placed. In the mix.
Ambiente Friendly (IRE)
Placed in the Derby/Irish Derby in 2024 for James Fanshawe. Largely disappointing on the Flat for his current yard since, though respectable effort when eighth in Duke of Edinburgh (1½m) at Royal Ascot and not beaten far when sixth of 7 in conditions event at Goodwood (9f, good to firm) since.
Ghostwriter (IRE)
Winless since 2023 Royal Lodge but signed off for Clive Cox with good third in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot last June. Yet to hit that form in a couple of runs for his current handler, though not disgraced with 3¾ lengths fourth of 8 in Glorious Stakes at Goodwood (1½m, good to firm) 4 weeks ago.
Respond (IRE)
Better than ever since switched to front-running tactics with wins over 1¼m at Chelmsford and Chester. Very good second of 16 in handicap at Epsom (1¼m) after and run best ignored (badly hampered 2f out) when ninth in John Smith's Cup at York last time. Considered after a break.
Sea Scout (IRE)
40/1-winner of Blue Riband Trial at Epsom last April and ended 2025 with a good third in St Simon Stakes at Newbury (1½m). Back from 10 months off (gelded) with an encouraging second of 4 in Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock (1¼m, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. Not out of things.
Silawi (IRE)
Smart winner of Grade 1 Canadian International in October and matched that form when second in 9f Meydan Group 1 in January. Only twice raced since and shaped as if needing the run when ninth of 10 in Group 1 at Munich (1¼m, good) 34 days ago. 2-2 here and can take a step forward.
Warrant Holder (IRE)
Resumed with cosy success at York in May and looked well on the up when an excellent second of 17 in Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot (1½m) in June. Not at his best when tenth in John Smith's Cup back at York last time but freshened up since and remains one to be interested in.
White Birch
Smart gelding at his best for John Joseph Murphy but off since twelfth in Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp (1½m) last October. Changed hands for 300,000 guineas since (gelded and had a breathing operation) and can't be ruled out for his new yard in this lower grade.
Muddy Mooy (IRE)
Excellent second in listed event at Chantilly last July on final run for Paul Attwater. Returned from 9 months off with a good third in Kempton listed event (1¼m) in April. Raced on unfavoured far side when nineteenth in Kensington Palace at Royal Ascot (1m) in June so no forlorn hope.
