Timeform View

DOUBLE RED ran well to make the frame over C&D last month and backed that up by going close at Salisbury, so gets the nod to register a second win of the season with the drop back in trip looking in his favour. Sail On Sailor was below expectations at Sandown last time but can be given another chance to resume his progress, with Almekarem also considered.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Sail On Sailor traded at more than 5 times Betfair SP twice and 2 times Betfair SP when winning on 3 of its last 5 starts: Double Red traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Hengest
Completed a quick-fire hat-trick in 4-runner handicap at Yarmouth (1¼m, good to firm) in May but well held on all 3 outings since, his last 2 efforts particularly laboured. Bit to prove at present.
Almekarem (IRE)
Headstrong sort who made a successful return from a 7-month break on turf at Lingfield (1¼m, firm) last month. Switched to positive tactics and quickly back to form despite again proving keen when neck second of 6 in handicap at Salisbury (1¼m, good, 3/1) 19 days ago.
Perfect Scoundrel
Has improved since dropped back to this trip, only narrowly denied in handicap at Newbury (1¼m) early last month prior to getting off the mark in a thin 4-runner handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 11/8) 46 days ago. Just kept up to his work there but 6 lb rise looks harsh enough.
Arthur's Realm (IRE)
Not won for 14 starts but didn't shape too badly on his first start for this rookie trainer (formerly with Ed Dunlop) when fifth of 9 at Goodwood (1½m, good to soft) 87 days ago. Has a short break to overcome but well treated if able to build on that.
Mao Shang Wong (IRE)
Bounced back to best when scoring at Beverley (1¼m) in May, albeit suited by the way the race developed. Second there the following month but needs to bounce back after lesser efforts the last twice.
Double Red
Frequent slow starter who made a winning return at Lingfield in April. Back to somewhere near his best with cheekpieces refitted when close second of 4 in a slightly better event at Salisbury (1¼m) last month and seemed beaten by the step up to 1½m at Chepstow 4 weeks ago. Player back down in trip.
Trio
Dual winner over 8.5f here last month but had no excuses when last of 4 at the same C&D 17 days ago. Not an obvious one to appreciate this step up in distance.
Crystal Pier (IRE)
Returned to win Wolverhampton handicap in May. Bettered that when close second over 1m at Windsor (good to firm) 12 days later but down the field both starts since, albeit badly impeded at Windsor last month.
Hello Cotai (IRE)
Benefited from return to this trip when opening account for this yard at Windsor in June. Close here next time and quickly back to form when fourth of 6 back at Windsor (1¼m, good to firm) 21 days ago. Others are perhaps better treated, though.
Sail On Sailor
On the up this summer, shaping as if still some way ahead of his mark when overcoming a pace bias to bring up the hat-trick over C&D last month. Never looked like completing a 4-timer facing his elders for the first time when fifth of 12 at Sandown (1m, good) 39 days ago. Worth another chance.
