Timeform View

FRENCH AFFAIR has flourished since joining Jennie Candlish and can bring up the hat-trick at the chief expense of Play Me and Silver Trumpet, both of whom have already scored over C&D this summer.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

French Affair traded at a high of 10.00 and Betfair SP of 2.94 when winning last time, a race in which it raced towards the rear.

Timeform Comments

French Affair (IRE)
Gained a deserved success (formerly with Richard Hannon) for new yard in 26-runner handicap at Glorious Goodwood and improved further to defy a 4 lb higher mark in a 7-runner event at Redcar 23 days ago (both 6f, good to firm). Unlikely to have finished progressing yet.
Dapper Guest (IRE)
Has edged down the weights this season and returned to form from this mark when third of 7 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good) 8 days ago.
Silver Trumpet
Seems most effective on quick ground and bounced back to his best when a narrow winner at C&D last month. Perhaps surprisingly looked ill at ease on the track when fifth of 6 in handicap (3/1) at Brighton (7f, good) 25 days ago and is worth considering back at Epsom.
Million Gold
Overcame obvious inexperience when winning novice at Kempton in December but was unable to land the odds at Newcastle following month. Possibly needed the run making handicap/turf debut at York in June after 5 months off and market may prove best guide back from another break (has been gelded).
Fresh Fade (IRE)
A 6f maiden winner in Ireland last summer but hasn't offered much promise in 4 handicaps for current yard this season. Step back up in trip needs to work the oracle.
Play Me
Won at Brighton in June before notching a second course success at C&D 17 days ago, responding well from off the pace having been suited by a strong gallop. 7-lb claimer retains the ride and he's considered after a 2 lb rise.
