Oisin Murphy gets the leg up on ROCK OF ENGLAND who might prove the answer to this tricky sprint. Veteran course specialist Mark's Choice is feared most ahead of thriving pair Happier and Thornaby Pearl.

Timeform Comments

Our Absent Friends (IRE)
C&D winner. Pair of wins over 5f at Catterick this summer, emphatically seeing off Canaria Queen for the latter. Well below par when only fifth of 8 there last week, though.
Rock Of England (IRE)
Three wins from 8 starts this year, including C&D. Bit below form when fourth of 9 in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good) 17 days ago but capable of bouncing back here under Oisin Murphy.
Thornaby Pearl
Going through a good spell at the moment, making it 3 wins in his last 4 starts when leading close home at Windsor (5f, good to firm). Another 4 lb higher now bit this former course scorer has to be respected in his current mood.
Mark's Choice (IRE)
Has a remarkable Ripon record, successful 10 times at this course. Another fine effort here when second of 20 over 6f (good to firm) 16 days ago. Has to enter calculations back down in class.
Canaria Queen
Has proved as good as ever this year, winning 3 times with the latest at Hamilton in June. Creditable second of 8 at Catterick (5f, good to firm) 5 days ago. This former C&D scorer could be on the premises again.
Betweenthesticks
Won at Wolverhampton and Pontefract in the spring. Notched 3 successive creditable in-frame efforts back at Pontefract this summer but his run of good form came to a halt when well behind Our Absent Friends at Catterick last time.
Glory Fighter
Veteran who responded well when getting off the mark for the year at Nottingham (5f) in April but has struggled since. Rock of England looks the more obvious of the yard's pair.
Marajito
C&D winner in May. Also a good second here at the beginning of this month. Too free returned to 6f at Redcar since and treated as if still in form.
Happier (IRE)
Notched back to back wins at Wolverhampton (classified event) and Ffos Las (handicap) in recent weeks and only narrowly denied on the hat-trick bid at Lingfield (all-weather) 13 days ago. Only 1 lb here so has to merit consideration.
