TEST RUN is by no means the most solid option here but there's certainly a strong case to say he's well treated on his debut form. He's therefore awarded the tentative vote over Filly Eilish and Vega Storm.

Timeform Comments

Wield
Signed off for Andrew Balding with good second in 7f Newmarket maiden in April but has beaten only one home in a trio of handicaps since. Lots to prove back on the all-weather.
Filly Eilish (IRE)
Much improved when beating a subsequent winner over C&D last month and best not judged too harshly on her effort back here 3 weeks ago, not ideally placed as the race panned out. Remains of serious interest.
Legacy Rock (IRE)
Has benefited from the step up to 1m, recording back-to-back wins at Windsor in May. Good effort in defeat when runner-up at Nottingham later that month and on the back of a lesser effort at Salisbury, he did a shade too much too soon at Newmarket 11 days ago.
Mayflower Billy
Progressed when runner-up over 1m at Doncaster in May. Limitations exposed in deeper race when fifth of 10 at Newbury a month later and he didn't do enough in re-fitted cheekpieces at Nottingham to seriously consider him.
Silky Lass
Newcastle novice winner over 1m in February. Failed to keep straight when 7 lengths second of 13 in amateurs handicap at Wolverhampton in June before being brushed aside ridden prominently back there 12 days later. Has left Karl Burke.
Power Strike (IRE)
Night of Thunder colt who didn't achieve a great deal in a trio of runs in 2026 for Joseph O'Brien. Transferred to another good yard (gelded) but opening mark demands more.
Test Run
Shaped well when fourth behind some very useful types on debut at Doncaster last September. Off 10 months and nowhere near that level both starts this summer but he's in shrewd hands and his opening mark looks very workable.
Dacres Cross (IRE)
Fair 6f juvenile winner who stepped up markedly on his reappearance when fourth in 20-runner York handicap in May. Was at much shorter odds with his sights lowered but failed to improve when fifth at Catterick (7f, firm) since. Steps up to 1m.
Vega Storm (IRE)
Produced his most encouraging effort so far on just his second handicap outing when fourth of 9 in handicap at Catterick (7f) last month. Bit disappointing at Catterick but stamina in dam's side of the pedigree and he saw out 1m well when third at Ayr.
Sailor's Return
Showed fair form without winning in France (including all-weather) and has shaped better than the result in 3 of 4 turf starts for new yard. Probably on a workable mark if it all drops right so she needs considering.
