MWAFAQ remains on an upward curve and shaped like the best horse at the weights when an unlucky fifth at Lingfield 2 weeks ago, so he is taken to resume winning ways at the chief expense of Iain Jardine's Southwell winner Junkyard Dog and top-weight Shimmering Sands.

Shimmering Sands
Returned from 6 months off to land back-to-back handicaps at Pontefract (1¼m) in June. Made little impact in race not run to suit when last of 3 at Newmarket 4 weeks ago but this sort of scenario will play more to his strengths, for all his revised mark demands that bit more.
Mao Shang Wong (IRE)
Bounced back to best when scoring at Beverley (1¼m) in May, albeit suited by the way the race developed. Decent second there the following month but needs to bounce back after lesser efforts the last twice.
Amidst The Chaos (IRE)
Fitted with cheekpieces when getting off the mark for the year at Pontefract (1m) in June and returned to form with the headgear left off when second of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (1¼m, firm) 19 days ago. Place claims again from unchanged mark.
Mwafaq (IRE)
Progressed again when recording win number 5 at Doncaster (1m) in July. Went close to completing a second hat-trick when touched off by an unexposed 3-y-o at Hamilton next time and did well to get so close after his blindfold was removed very late when at Lingfield 12 days ago.
Rodoya (IRE)
Maiden winner in France last spring but has shown very little in 3 starts for this yard. Plenty to prove after 7 months off.
Qitaal
Losing run is mounting up but he went close at Ripon in June and ran creditably again when 2¼ lengths fifth of 7 to Echalar at Doncaster (1¼m, firm) 19 days ago. Visor back on and he can give another good account, for all others hold stronger win claims.
Livonian (GER)
Fairly useful novice winner (over 1m) for Ralph Beckett but has failed to beat a rival in 3 starts for this yard. Has had a breathing operation since last run.
Junkyard Dog (IRE)
Fair winner in Ireland who hasn't had much racing on the Flat for this yard and built on an encouraging Carlisle second to win an 11-runner handicap at Southwell (11f, 9/1) 28 days ago. Still handily weighted on pick of Irish form after 3 lb rise.
Finlaggan
French recruit who showed improved form upped to 1¼m when close second on handicap debut at Pontefract in April. Has proved a shade expensive to follow since, again looking as if he might benefit from a step up in trip when fourth of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (1¼m, firm) 69 days ago.
