HIGH FIBRE can continue his excellent start for the James Owen yard and complete a cross-code hat-trick. Marbuzet escapes a penalty for last Sunday's Beverley apprentice race success and is second choice ahead of Trojan Sun. Florida Dreams is also capable of having a say if behaving better in the preliminaries this time.

Timeform Comments

Shadow Dance
Smart handicapper at his peak for Roger Varian but well below that level in 4 outings since joining Rebecca Menzies, including down the field over 1½m here in this headgear combination at last month's Ebor meeting. It remains to be seen whether a step up to 2m helps matters.
Pinatique (FR)
Useful in France for Jean-Claude Rouget. Off 9 months, shaped as if retaining plenty of ability when fourth of 5 in handicap at Newbury (1½m, good to firm) on return for new yard 22 days ago. Could build on that but stamina an unknown up markedly in trip.
Percy Shelley
Scored over hurdles for this yard last autumn but his only wins on the Flat came in France in 2022. Another creditable effort when 1¼ lengths second of 5 to stablemate High Fibre at Newmarket (2m, good to firm) 31 days ago but suspicion he may find the odd one too strong again.
High Fibre (IRE)
Yet another to react positively to a switch to the James Owen yard, winning a valuable handicap hurdle at Market Rasen in July before returning to the Flat to see off stablemate Percy Shelley over 2m at Newmarket (good to firm) last month. A 5 lb rise seems unlikely to prevent another bold bid.
Call My Bluff (IRE)
Took advantage of reduced mark when ending lengthy losing run in 6-runner handicap at Newbury in April, though was seen to maximum effect from the front. Well held off higher marks twice since. Off 91 days.
Rock N Roll Pinkie
Three wins in 2025, including this race. Below par in recent starts but dangerous to discount given she's dipped to 3 lb below the mark she defied 12 months ago.
Moon Chime
Teed up by a run on the Flat and caused a surprise in a first-time tongue tie when winning 16-runner Swinton at Haydock in May. Backed it up with a Flat win 18 days later but below par behind High Fibre over hurdles at Market Rasen in July.
Trojan Sun
Successful 4 times in 2025 and capitalised on drop in grade to open his account for season at Carlisle (1¾m) in June. Mixed record since but latest third of 9 at Musselburgh (2¼m, good to firm) creditable.
Florida Dreams (IRE)
Grade 2 bumper winner at start of career. Fair form switched to Flat this summer. Potential improver now handicapping in this sphere but withdrawn after getting upset in the stalls when favourite for his intended handicap debut at Musselburgh recently. Has first-time hood added to cheekpieces.
Gibside
C&D winner in 2024. Turned in best effort of the season when third of 5 at Catterick in June but hasn't built on it in 3 subsequent outings. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect.
Marbuzet
Reliable and consistent in 2025. Anything but that when failing to beat a rival on his first 3 outings this year but he bounced back to form with a bang to win at Beverley (2m, heavy) last Sunday, digging deep to shade a tight finish. That was an apprentice race so he escapes a penalty.
Newport
Scored over hurdles in June and off the mark on Flat when taking 9-runner handicap at Redcar (1¾m, good to firm) last month. Respectable fifth of 9 off this mark at Musselburgh (2¼m, good to firm) since.
Furhaan
Has drawn a blank since handicap debut success for Ed Walker last time but he placed twice over C&D in July and showed enough to think he's still in decent form when fourth of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (2¼m, good to firm) 12 days ago. Is 4 lb out of the handicap this time, though.
