Timeform View

The form of MOTHER SHIP's Sligo run has been franked and she can go one better here at the expense of Ocean Heights, who should appreciate this longer trip. Captain Connor appeals best of the rest for place purposes.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Mother Ship traded at a low of 13.00 and Betfair SP of 17.00 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Mother Ship (IRE)
Modest maiden. In first-time tongue strap, stopped the slide when neck second of 16 to Move It On Over in handicap hurdle at Sligo (21f, good, 12/1) 19 days ago. Finished a place in front of a next-time-out winner there and can go well again.
Devon Red
Little impact in points in 2023/24. Modest form when runner-up in 4-runner novice here last month, flattered by proximity to eased-down winner. Improvement required making quick switch to handicaps.
Ocean Heights
Some creditable efforts over hurdles this summer, including when runner-up at Uttoxeter in July. Followed that with a lesser effort at Worcester just over 2 weeks ago but has shaped like a longer trip on a tight track like this will suit. Shortlist material.
Mystic Wind (FR)
Yet to make his presence felt in 4 outings. This longer trip isn't certain to suit given his headstrong tendencies, but clearly too soon to write off given connections, and the market may be best guide.
Makinbecon
Resumed his progress in first-time tongue tie when landing 8-runner handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (21f) in July but ran poorly both starts since. Yard struggling for form.
Gilded Glance
Failed to make any impact in 4 starts, pulled up in C&D event on handicap debut when last seen in April. Very hard to make a case for.
Captain Connor (FR)
First run since leaving Mark Walford when 8½ lengths second at Stratford (2¾m, good, 33/1) 13 days ago, suited by strong pace back up markedly in trip. Jumping hasn't always been the safest but worth a market check on the back of last run.
Ghost Jury (IRE)
Point winner in May and left behind her first effort back hurdling when rallying for second in mares' handicap over C&D in July before underperforming last time. Record under Rules isn't the most consistent but the return to this longer trip will suit.
