LUCKY HERO has found plenty of improvement since stepped up to 1¼m and might be able to cope with even a 10 lb rise. Thunder Wonder shaped quite well in a competitive Glorious Goodwood handicap last time and is feared most ahead of Lillie Margot, who shapes as if this step up to 1¼m could be in her favour.

Timeform Comments

Nepal (IRE)
Doubled his tally in Bahrain in January. Well held in listed race there in February (final start for George Scott) and had a breathing operation before last of 4 for new yard in handicap at Redcar (1¼m, good to firm) in July.
Fox Avatar (IRE)
Ended 2025 with an easy win at Lingfield last summer but hasn't kicked on in 3 starts this season, looking one paced back on turf latest.
Thunder Wonder (IRE)
Twelve runs since last win in 2025 but back on form last twice, latterly fifth of 15 in Glorious Goodwood handicap (9f, good to firm), good headway late on from too far back.
Golden Redemption (USA)
Maiden winner for Andrew Balding last summer and placed in handicaps on his next 4 outings. Down the field at Newmarket the last twice, although faced a stiff task from out of the weights last time. First run for new yard after a 32,000 gns sale in July.
Percy's Daydream
Forward-going type who is already a 4-time winner for David O'Meara, latest in Class 4 company at Beverley in June. Has found life tougher since her mark has gone into the 80s, though.
Lucky Hero (IRE)
Easy winner of C&D apprentice event under Conor Whiteley in July. Had something to spare when turned out unpenalised at Newmarket the following week and still looks fairly treated even off 10 lb higher.
Per Contra (IRE)
Now 5 lb below last winning mark but has yet to get within 3½ lengths of a breakthrough in 2026 after 10 attempts.
Farasi Lane (IRE)
Won back-to-back at Wolverhampton in March for Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole before notching another win on yard debut in a 7-runner event at Ripon (1m) in July. Creditable third at Chester last month but ran no sort of race at Pontefract since.
Yafreh
Frankel brother to smart winner up to 1¼m Al Mubhir. Made steady progress in his first 4 starts, including third on 1½m Thirsk handicap debut. Possibly simply failed to handle the track when a disappointing last of 7 at Ripon latest. Claims on his earlier efforts.
Sea The Power (FR)
Lightly-raced 1m juvenile winner for Adrian Keatley. Better effort in handicaps for current yard this year when fifth of 14 at this course (1m, good to firm) 32 days ago. Back up in trip.
Lillie Margot
Confirmed the promise of her handicap debut second when going one better at Nottingham (1m) in June. Respectable in-frame efforts on all-weather since and shapes as if she may benefit from this step up to 1¼m.
