Timeform View

NIGHT EMPEROR was caught away from the main action when fourth to Hurstwood over C&D last time and is taken to resume winning ways now. Peter Niven's C&D specialist remains feasibly treated and might give the selection most to do. Ridgemaster and Stormy Pearl also make the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Stormy Pearl
C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2025. 14/1, respectable 3½ lengths third of 16 to Hurstwood in handicap at this C&D (good) 18 days ago. Enters calculations.
Soul Warrior (IRE)
Surprise winner (40/1) of C&D Redcar nursery last September. Yet to really kick on in 2026, racing too keenly with a visor added last time.
Hurstwood
This veteran landed the fourth C&D success of his career when seeing off Ziva's Star by 2¼ lengths 18 days ago. 8 lb higher now but won off a higher mark last autumn. Should figure again.
Blindfold Games (IRE)
Ran right up her best when second of 4 in a 6f handicap at Lingfield in June but not in the same form at Yarmouth in July (final start for George Boughey). Has switched to another good stable. The tongue tie she's worn on her last 8 starts is left off.
Night Emperor (IRE)
C&D winner under Warren Fentiman in July. Respectable 3½ lengths fourth of 16 to Hurstwood back here since, finishing first in his group. Likely to go well.
Sovereign Class (IRE)
Remains a maiden after 16 runs. 28/1, last of 10 in handicap at Southwell (1m) in February. Drops in trip back from 7 months off. Others are more persuasive.
Ridgemaster (IRE)
Runner-up for a third time in classified company this summer when beaten a neck at Catterick 14 days ago. Respected back in a handicap.
Golden Prosperity (IRE)
Back to form when second of 9 in classified event at Thirsk (6f, good) last month and can be forgiven a subsequent 7f effort at Catterick as he went off too hard.
Brave Bob
Still a maiden after 12 starts but was second in a classified race at Newcastle in January and returned from 5 months with a respectable third of 9 in a handicap at Wolverhampton in July.
Ziva's Star
Now a 25-race maiden but she did react well to blinkers (retained) when 2¼ lengths second of 16 to Hurstwood over C&D (good) 18 days ago. Claims if the headgear works again.
Pinpoint
Three creditable in-frame efforts since leaving Ewan Whillans, the latest in a 5f course classified event. Steps back up to 6f now.
Long Shot
Has made the frame 5 times in handicaps this season but not at his best in recent starts. Starting to look well treated but hard to be confident.
Ninety Nine (IRE)
Not scored since 2024 and she's finished well held on all 3 runs this season. Been off for 96 days.
Captain Bentley
80/1-winner of classified event at Chepstow in July 2025 but has made no impact in handicaps since.
Hyrcanian (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who has struggled in similar races on all starts this season.
Lesley Buckley (IRE)
Yet to achieve anything of note, including for new yard at Lingfield 13 days ago.
Breeze Star (IRE)
Little solid form.
