Timeform View

IRON SWORD sets a reasonably good standard and is fancied to make it third time lucky. Newcomers Le Grand Retour and Gaelic Seer need keeping a close eye on in the betting, however.

Iron Sword (FR)
Attracted support and shaped even better than the bare result when fifth of 18 in a deep Punchestown bumper on debut in June, doing too much too soon. Not seen to best effect when third in 13-runner event at Roscommon (15f) since and clearly up to winning races.
Le Grand Retour (IRE)
Goliath Du Berlais gelding. Dam (h107), placed twice from 3 starts over hurdles in France, sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3¼m) Another Emotion. Newcomer from respected yard.
Reafadda (IRE)
A cheap purchase who hasn't shaped with much encouragement on either start to date.
Walkineezy (IRE)
Walk In The Park gelding who showed some ability when sixth of 8 in Killarney bumper on debut in July. Went with distinctly less encouragement when well beaten at Galway 11 days later, though.
Gaelic Seer (IRE)
3,000 gns 3-y-o, Masar filly. Half-sister to 2 winners on Flat, including useful 1¼m-1½m winner The Glen Rovers. A cheap purchase but hails from a yard with a decent record in bumpers, so would enter the reckoning if supported.
Real Lark (IRE)
Vadamos filly. Closely related to fair hurdle winner/fairly useful chaser Get Up Mush. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/chaser (stayed 2½m) Real Steel. Makes a fair amount of appeal on paper so a market check is advised.
