Timeform View

DREAM VEGA got off the mark in impressive fashion at Chester last time and can follow up now switched to handicaps. Fellow handicap debutante Vanilla Skies is most feared, with Lyra Lea completing the 1-2-3.

Timeform Comments

Distant Shore
Won at Salisbury on sole start at 2 yrs. Improved when runner-up over 1m here (good) and Nottingham (good to firm) since handicapping, shaping well from further back than ideal at the latter. Failed to improve for step up to 1¼m at Lingfield last month and now drops back markedly in distance.
Souffler
Little impact first 2 runs but much improved to land 11-runner novice at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) in October, knuckling down well. Looked rusty making her return/handicap debut when sixth of 7 in handicap (11/1) at Lingfield (7f, all-weather) 31 days ago. Will need to come on from that.
Lyra Lea
Steadily progressive filly who relished the drop back to 7f when doubling her tally in a 3-y-o C&D handicap in July. Looked hard ride at Newbury next time but coped well enough with the drop to 6f despite again looking a shade quirky when third of 9 at Salisbury (good to soft) last week.
Dream Vega (IRE)
Lope De Vega filly from a smart family. Ran a potentially useful rival close at Doncaster second time up and only needed to match that form to win a 7-runner maiden at Chester (7f, good to firm) 62 days ago, forging clear after leading 1f out. Opening mark is fair and she can improve in handicaps.
Brisk Symphony (IRE)
Dual 6f scorer last season. Returned with good runner-up efforts at Yarmouth and Lingfield and returned to form after a brace of lesser efforts on turf when fourth of 7 at Lingfield (7f) last month. Failed to back that up when last of 6 at Newbury last time, though.
Vanilla Skies
Pinatubo filly made a winning start in 7f Newmarket novice. Has backed that up with a pair of solid second-placed finishes in novice events under a penalty, latterly at Redcar (7f, good) 44 days ago. Respected making handicap debut in a first-time tongue strap.
Allegrino (IRE)
Doubled her tally at Yarmouth (7f) in July and proved better than ever when readily scoring for the third time this season in a 7-runner handicap at Newmarket (7f, good to firm, 2/1) 21 days ago. 6 lb rise makes life tougher here.
Gesayed
Overcame inexperience to make a successful debut at Hamilton (6f) last June. Didn't race again at 2 yrs but ran to a similar level in novice events under a penalty this season, though was underwhelming when only seventh of 13 on handicap debut at Doncaster (7f, good to firm, 12/1) 83 days ago.
