BAKER BLUE has been running well in competitive sprint handicaps this year and has all the hallmarks of one that should be suited by this track so he's taken to prove too speedy for the thriving Aces Wild and 8-time course winner Roman Dragon, neither of whom are ideally berthed.

8-time course winner who won over 5f at the May meeting from 1 lb higher mark. Below best over longer trips since but could well bounce back returned to the minimum trip assuming stall 9 doesn't prove too prohibitive.
Baker Blue
Useful sprinter who made all for both his career wins. Solid fourth in better race than this at York last month when raced freely before hanging left so this first try at this track really should suit him and he could be hard to peg back if able to get to the lead from stall 7.
Exclamation (IRE)
Inconsistent performer who scored from this mark over C&D in May but below form last 2 starts. Well drawn to attack here and could well show more than he has recently with claimer taking over.
Tricky Tel
Boasts excellent Chester record with 3 course wins and finished good second of 7 here in July. Last of 19 at York 23 days ago but was poorly drawn that day. Hasn't done much better on that score here but he doesn't have to lead so the return to this venue could see him prove a threat.
Betsen
Won over 5f at Chepstow in May and not seen to best effect since, including when fifth of 8 at Sandown 13 days ago, shaping better than the result after 12 weeks off with headgear removed. May strip fitter for that outing and holds place claims.
Kodiac Thriller (IRE)
Twice a winner this year, including over 5f at York in July. Only ninth of 14 at Ripon in a higher grade 27 days ago but he ran well on only previous outing at this track and is well drawn to suit his prominent style so can't be discounted.
Temple Of Athena
C&D winner last year who hasn't kicked on from a winning reappearance this time around and wasn't good at the start on heavy going at Beverley last time. Now tries first-time cheekpieces.
Manila Scouse
Won at Ayr in July but has gone off the boil since with 3 subsequent poor runs. Edging back down the weights but needs to bounce back.
Vintage Clarets
Won this in 2024 and claims on his second in the Epsom Dash (soft) and C&D third in June but disappointing last 2 starts. Has tumbled to an attractive mark and will be suited by any rain but hasn't been the sharpest through the early part of races this year so may not take advantage of stall 1.
Aces Wild (IRE)
Won 3 of his last 4 starts, including when recording a second C&D success in July, defying a double-figure draw for a career-best effort. Up 4 lb and hiked in grade but hard to rule out in current heart.
