COMANCHE BRAVE took his form to a new level when gaining his Group 1 breakthrough in the July Cup at Newmarket and the way in which he went about that strongly suggests the drop to 5f won't be an inconvenience. He looks the answer, with Nunthorpe second and fourth Starlust and Time For Sandals (second choice) heading the opposition.

Remarkable improver in space of a year or so, transforming from ordinary handicapper to Group 1 winning sprinter in King Charles III Stakes in 2025. Suffered a setback after and a bit in-and-out since but his Group 2 win in King George Stakes a return to his very best. Well held in the Nunthorpe.
Big Gossey (IRE)
Most likeable 9-y-o who looked as good as ever as he brought up win number 10 at this track in a 6f listed event in June. Gave his all when runner-up in 7f Group 2 next time but heavy defeat in handicap company latest and highly doubtful he has the speed or class to cope with some 5f specialists.
Comanche Brave (IRE)
Left in Ka Ying Rising's wake at Sha Tin but returned from International travels with dominant display in 10-runner Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh and cranked it up another notch when opening Group 1 account in the July Cup (6f). First go at 5f but no reason why he won't be as effective.
Cover Up (IRE)
Had a productive spell at Meydan during the winter/spring, winning listed event/Blue Point Sprint, and looked better than ever when coming from off the pace to win Group 2 over C&D in July. Finished with running left having been denied a clear run in the Nunthorpe.
Jakajaro (IRE)
Much improved for the switch to front-running tactics this season, winning handicaps at Newmarket and York. More than held his own in Group events after until a lesser effort when 5-lengths eleventh of 15 to American Affair in King George Stakes at Goodwood.
Jm Jungle (IRE)
Thriving when successful in Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood last summer. Shaped quite well away from the main group in first-time blinkers when seventh in the Nunthorpe before making the most of a return to listed company in the Beverley Bullet. Will clearly find the going tougher back in a Group 1.
Night Raider (IRE)
Fifth in this a year ago but better than ever when dominating Group 3 at Newmarket (gelded) before overcoming a tardy start to follow up in Temple Stakes. Scuppered by a low draw at Royal Ascot and also better than the result in the Nunthorpe so he's in better heart than form figures suggest.
Partisan Hero (IRE)
Has taken his form up a notch since campaigned as a sprinter, backing up his York handicap win when placed in Sandown Group 3 and Group 2 over C&D (second to Cover Up). Behind a few of these in Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood since and same story in the Nunthorpe.
Rumstar
Unable to peg back Night Raider in the Palace House at Newmarket on return. Excuses at Royal Ascot before winning Sandown Group 3. Came out best in his group when ½-length second to American Affair in Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood and stuck to his task really well to grab third in the Nunthorpe.
Starlust
Very lightly raced since winning the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in 2024 (briefly took up stud duties) but proved he still has plenty to offer when finding only the very smart Bacio too good in the Nunthorpe 3 weeks ago. Repeat of that level will see him in the mix.
Brussels
Runner-up 3 times in pattern races last autumn and turned in best effort this season when 2½ lengths fifth of 10 in Group 2 over C&D in July. Never involved in another Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood last time so hard to see him featuring in this exalted level.
Charles Darwin (IRE)
Highly progressive and exciting at 2, completing a hat-trick in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot. Picked up where he left off when winning 6f Navan listed race on return but has underperformed all 3 starts since and this no easy race to bounce back in.
Mission Central (IRE)
Didn't always look straightforward as a 2-y-o but emphatically kicked on again this year, benefiting from superb ride when getting up late in 26-runner King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot. Unable to reproduce that form faced with different set up in July Cup but also well held in the Nunthorpe.
Gazelle D'or (IRE)
Won a trio of sprint handicaps at this venue last season and improved form this campaign when runner-up to Mission Central in 5f listed race at Naas in May. Has plenty on her plate in this company, though.
Time For Sandals (IRE)
Surprise winner of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last season. Had cut little ice this campaign until a very good ¾-length third to American Affair in Group 2 at Glorious Goodwood but confirmed she's back in top form when an unlucky fourth in the Nunthorpe, finishing with running left.
Argentine Tango
Won an ordinary fillies listed event at Ayr prior to finishing well behind JM Jungle in Group 2 at Goodwood last time. Excelled herself when finishing much closer to that rival in the Beverley Bullet 2 weeks ago but blinkers need to elicit plenty more in this company.
Ipanema Queen (IRE)
Won 3 times (including over C&D) for Adrian Murray in 2025, including listed race. Highly tried by current yard before seeing off Erosandpsyche by short head on return to handicap company at Cork in July. All out that day and this a different examination.
Spicy Marg
Three-time winner as a juvenile. Highly tried first 3 starts this season but produced a standout performance when just edged out in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Might not have been over that huge effort when well held at York and found 5f too sharp a test at Goodwood latest.
