A short-head winning margin did no justice whatsoever to MONOGRAM in a C&D maiden last month and appealing as the type to improve markedly (possesses loads of physical scope), Joseph O'Brien's well-bred colt can take this significant step up in class in his stride. Giant Sequoia was by no means all out when landing the Futurity Stakes, so he can provide most resistance, with the unbeaten English-raider Dr Rascal rounding off the shortlist.

Fast-improving colt who maintained his unbeaten record stepped into pattern company in 6-runner Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood (7f, good to firm) just under 7 weeks ago, plenty to like about his willingness in beating Haffner by ½ length. Well worth his place in this.
Florida Bay (IRE)
Landed the odds in 7f Fairyhouse novice in June and back on the up when winning Leopardstown Group 3 over the same trip under Wayne Lordan in July. Matched that form when ½-length second of 6 to Giant Sequoia in Futurity Stakes over C&D recently and looks Ballydoyle's third string on paper.
Folsom Blues (IRE)
Built on debut promise with a wide-margin success in maiden at Gowran in June. Shaped best when second in Group 3 at Leopardstown next time and upped his game further when 1¼ lengths second of 8 to Sun Goddess in Phoenix Stakes here (6f, good to firm) 5 weeks ago. More needed back up to 7f.
Giant Sequoia (USA)
Turned over at 4/9 on debut but made no mistake when sent off the same price back at the Irish Derby meeting. Showed much improved form to overcome the rise in class when landing 6-runner Futurity Stakes over C&D last month by ½ length from Florida Bay and looks capable of better again.
Haffner (USA)
Confirmed debut promise when off the mark in a Newmarket maiden (7f) in July and barely had to improve on what he'd achieved in the Vintage to double his tally in 10-runner Acomb Stakes at York (7f, good) last month, responding well. Better to come but Ryan Moore sticks with Giant Sequoia.

Kingman colt who having been strong in the betting, landed 16-runner maiden over C&D (good) on debut just over 3 weeks ago, the narrow winning margin doing him no justice whatsoever. Possesses loads of physical scope and commands plenty of respect immediately upped to Group 1 company.
Porto Vecchio (IRE)
Frankel colt who looked a good prospect as he overcame inexperience to make a winning start in 6-runner maiden over C&D (good to firm) 8 weeks ago, taking the eye with how he went through the race. Clearly held in high regard to be pitched straight into Group 1 company.
Trean (IRE)
Bayside Boy colt who confirmed debut promise at the second attempt when running out a dominant winner of a Galway maiden (7f) in late-July. Ran at least as well in defeat when third of 10 to Haffner in Acomb Stakes at York (7f, good) but he's a big outsider in this.
