Timeform View

RED HAT EAGLE was beaten only by an unexposed 3-y-o in this grade last time, and he's fancied to go one better here. Avatar Jet, Novak and The Childe of Hale all have solid claims at the weights in a competitive finale.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Surprised traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 5 starts: Avatar Jet has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP 3 times on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Red Hat Eagle
Four-time winner who was only beaten by an unexposed 3-y-o when 1¼ lengths second in first-time tongue strap at Lingfield (7f, all-weather) last time (fifth also won since). Hasn't had many spins in this grade and looks interesting sent North by in-form Newmarket yard.
The Childe Of Hale
Hold-up type who had the benefit of a plum draw when doubling his tally in a big-field Redcar handicap 5 days ago. Still looks fairly treated under a 5-lb penalty, and this should be run to suit.
Forest Caper
Free-going maiden (0-20). Needed the run/did plenty wrong when down the field on return at Wolverhampton (8.5f) earlier this month. Returning to 7f with hood back on should at least benefit.
Evocative Spark (IRE)
Has won 4 similar events at Catterick in the previous 12 months. Only 1 lb higher than the latest of those victories in May and has had plausible excuses on his last couple of starts.
Surprised
Low-mileage 4-y-o. Best effort this year when close third at Carlisle (6f) in May. Should've been suited by the step back up to 7f at Southwell when last seen in early-July but finished a well-held seventh of 10.
Folkene (FR)
Hasn't progressed after making a winning start for current yard at Newmarket (7f) last summer. Has dropped below that winning mark for the first time since, though, having possibly been unsuited by heavy ground at Haydock last time.
Honved
Regressed since finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton on debut. Sold from Ralph Beckett yard for only 2,600 gns prior to underwhelming stable debut/return at Newcastle last time.
Novak
Capitalised on a much-reduced mark to snap a long losing turf run at Musselburgh (7f) last time, requiring plenty of assistance from the saddle. A 5-lb apprentice takes over here, and he's still capable of making an impact off this mark.
Avatar Jet (IRE)
Made all to get off the mark for current yard in this grade at Southwell in April. Likely still in form, shaping better than the 2-length beaten distance under a more patient ride at Southwell latest. Appeals now back on his latest winning mark.
Camera Shy (IRE)
Ended a losing run stretching back to his debut at Southwell (7f) in March. Back on the same mark following an inconsistent spell, slowly away when finishing 9 lengths behind The Childe of Hale at Redcar last week.
Bay Breeze
Course winner who kickstarted his season with a close third in a Class 6 sprint at Carlisle (6f) 5 days ago. On an attractive mark for this step back up in grade, though has yet to win over this far (0-5). NON RUNNER.
Jenni (IRE)
Form went wrong way for Seb Spencer after winning at Musselburgh last May. Wasn't disgraced off much-reduced mark on stable debut at Catterick latest, only beaten 3½ lengths after blowing the start (also denied clear run 1f out).
Precious Spartan (IRE)
Won 3 times at Ripon (1m) last year. Offered little in 4 starts this year and blinkers reached for following a less-than-fluent display at Ripon (1¼m) latest.
